Rama's Welcome and the Reunion with Bharata
Rama receives a glorious welcome in Ayodhya, and his tender reunion with Bharata moves everyone deeply. The brothers, the queens, and the citizens are immersed in love and joy.

आए भरत संग सब लोगा। कृस तन श्रीरघुबीर बियोगा॥ बामदेव बसिष्ट मुनिनायक। देखे प्रभु महि धरि धनु सायक॥ १ ॥

āe bharata saṃga saba logā। kṛsa tana śrīraghubīra biyogā॥ bāmadeva basiṣṭha munināyaka। dekhe prabhu mahi dhari dhanu sāyaka॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
All the people came with Bharata. In separation from Śrī Raghubīra, their bodies had grown thin. The Lord saw Vāmadeva, Vasiṣṭha, and the chief sages, setting aside his bow and arrow on the ground.
धाइ धरे गुर चरन सरोरुह। अनुज सहित अति पुलक तनोरुह॥ भेंटि कुसल बूझी मुनिराया। हमरें कुसल तुम्हारिहिं दाया॥ २ ॥

dhāi dhare gura carana saroruha। anuja sahita ati pulaka tanoruha॥ bheṃṭi kusala būjhī munirāyā। hamareṃ kusala tumhārihiṃ dāyā॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Rushing forward, they grasped the guru’s lotus feet; with his younger brother beside him, his whole body thrilled with delight. The sage-king was embraced and asked after his welfare. ‘Our well-being is by your grace alone.’
सकल द्विजन्ह मिलि नायउ माथा। धर्म धुरंधर रघुकुलनाथा॥ गहे भरत पुनि प्रभु पद पंकज। नमत जिन्हहि सुर मुनि संकर अज॥ ३ ॥

sakala dvijanhaṃ mili nāyau māthā। dharma dhuraṃdhara raghukulanāthā॥ gahe bharata puni prabhu pada paṃkaja। namata jinhahaṃ sura muni saṃkara aja॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
The Lord of Raghu’s line, the upholder of righteousness, bowed his head to all the twice-born. Then Bharata grasped the Lord’s lotus feet, which gods, sages, Śaṅkara, and Brahmā bow to.
परे भूमि नहिं उठत उठाए। बर करि कृपासिंधु उर लाए॥ स्यामल गात रोम भए ठाढ़े। नव राजीव नयन जल बाढ़े॥ ४ ॥

pare bhūmi nahiṃ uṭhata uṭhāe। bara kari kṛpāsiṃdhu ura lāe॥ syāmala gāta roma bhae ṭhāṛhe। nava rājīva nayana jala bāṛhe॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Bharata lay on the ground and would not rise even when lifted. Then the ocean of mercy, Śrī Rama, embraced him to his heart. Hair stood erect on his dark body, and a flood of tears filled his new lotus-like eyes.
राजीव लोचन स्रवत जल तन ललित पुलकावलि बनी। अति प्रेम हृदयँ लगाइ अनुजहि मिले प्रभु त्रिभुअन धनी॥ प्रभु मिलत अनुजहि सोह मो पहिं जाति नहिं उपमा कही। जनु प्रेम अरु सिंगार तनु धरि मिले बर सुषमा लही॥ १ ॥

rājīva locana sravata jala tana lalita pulakāvali banī। ati prema hṛdayaṃ lagāi anujahi mile prabhu tribhuana dhanī॥ prabhu milata anujahi soha mo pahiṃ jāti nahiṃ upamā kahī। janu prema aru siṃgāra tanu dhari mile bara suṣamā lahī॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Tears flowed from his lotus-like eyes, and the lovely hairs standing on his body formed a beautiful garland of thrill. The Lord of the three worlds embraced his younger brother with deep love. The beauty of the Lord as he met his brother cannot be described; it was as if Love and Splendor had taken bodily form and met, attaining matchless loveliness.
बूझत कृपानिधि कुसल भरतहि बचन बेगि न आवई। सुनु सिवा सो सुख बचन मन ते भिन्न जान जो पावई॥ अब कुसल कौसलनाथ आरत जानि जन दरसन दियो। बूड़त बिरह बारीस कृपानिधान मोहि कर गहि लियो॥ २ ॥

būjhata kṛpānidhi kusala bharatahi bacana begi na āvaī। sunu sivā so sukha bacana mana te bhinna jāna jo pāvaī॥ aba kusala kausalanātha ārata jāni jana darasana diyo। būṛata biraha bārīsa kṛpānidhāna mohi kara gahi liyo॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
The ocean of grace, Śrī Rama, asks Bharata about his welfare, but in his joy Bharata cannot speak at once. Listen, O Shiva: that bliss is beyond speech and mind; only one who experiences it knows it. Then Bharata says: ‘O Lord of Kosala, seeing me afflicted, You granted me Your sight; now all is well. Drowning in the ocean of separation, the ocean of mercy took me by the hand and saved me.’
पुनि प्रभु हरषि सत्रुहन भेंटे हृदयँ लगाइ। लछिमन भरत मिले तब परम प्रेम दोउ भाइ॥ ५ ॥

puni prabhu haraṣi satruhana bheṃṭe hṛdayaṃ lagāi। lachimana bharata mile taba parama prema dou bhāi॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
Then the Lord joyfully embraced Śatrughna to his heart. After that, Lakshmana and Bharata, the two brothers, met in supreme love.
भरतानुज लछिमन पुनि भेंटे। दुसह बिरह संभव दुख मेटे॥ सीता चरन भरत सिरु नावा। अनुज समेत परम सुख पावा॥ १ ॥

bharatānuja lachimana puni bheṭe। dusaha biraha saṃbhava dukha meṭe॥ sītā carana bharata sira nāvā। anuja sameta parama sukha pāvā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Lakshmana, Bharata's younger brother, met [Bharata] again. The unbearable sorrow born of separation was dispelled. Bharata bowed his head at Sita's feet and, along with his younger brother, attained supreme happiness.
प्रभु बिलोकि हरषे पुरबासी। जनित बियोग बिपति सब नासी॥ प्रेमातुर सब लोग निहारी। कौतुक कीन्ह कृपाल खरारी॥ २ ॥

prabhu biloki harṣe purabāsī। janita biyoga bipati saba nāsī॥ premātura saba loga nihārī। kautuka kīnhā kṛpāla kharārī॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Seeing the Lord, the people of Ayodhya rejoiced. All the troubles born of separation came to an end. Seeing everyone overcome with love and eager to meet Him, the merciful Khara-slayer, Shri Rama, worked a marvel.
अमित रूप प्रगटे तेहि काला। जथा जोग मिले सबहि कृपाला॥ कृपादृष्टि रघुबीर बिलोकी। किए सकल नर नारि बिसोकी॥ ३ ॥

amita rūpa pragate tehi kālā। jathā joga mile sabahiṃ kṛpālā॥ kṛpādṛṣṭi raghubīra bilokī। kie sakala nara nāri bisokī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
At that very moment, the compassionate Rama manifested in countless forms and met everyone as was fitting. With his merciful glance, Raghubira made all men and women free from sorrow.
छन महिं सबहि मिले भगवाना। उमा मरम यह काहुँ न जाना॥ एहि बिधि सबहि सुखी करि रामा। आगें चले सील गुन धामा॥ ४ ॥

chana mahiṃ sabahi mile bhagavānā। umā marama yaha kāhūṃ na jānā॥ ehi bidhi sabahi sukhi kari rāmā। āgeṃ cale sīla guna dhāmā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
In an instant the Lord met them all. O Uma, no one understood this mystery. Thus, making everyone happy, Rama, the abode of virtue and noble character, moved onward.
जनु धेनु बालक बच्छ तजि गृहँ चरन बन परबस गईं। दिन अंत पुर रुख स्रवत थन हुंकार करि धावत भईं॥ अति प्रेम प्रभु सब मातु भेटीं बचन मृदु बहुबिधि कहे। गइ बिषम बिपति बियोगभव तिन्ह हरष सुख अगनित लहे॥

janu dhenu bālaka baccha taji gṛhaṃ carana bana parabasa gaīṃ। dina anta pura rukha sravata thana huṃkāra kari dhāvata bhaīṃ॥ ati prema prabhu saba mātu bheṭīṃ bacana mr̥du bahubidhi kahe। gai biṣama bipati biyogabhava tinha haraṣa sukha aganita lahe॥
Meaning:
It was as though cows, leaving their young calves at home, had gone helplessly to graze in the forest; and at day’s end, turning toward the town, with milk flowing from their udders, they ran back mooing. With great love, the Lord met all the mothers and spoke to them in many gentle ways. The terrible suffering born of separation was removed, and they received countless joys and delights.
भेटेउ तनय सुमित्राँ राम चरन रति जानि। रामहि मिलत कैकई हृदयँ बहुत सकुचानि॥ ६ (क) ॥

bheṭeu tanaya sumitrāṃ rāma carana rati jāni। rāmahi milata kaikaī hṛdayaṃ bahuta sakucāni॥ 6 (a) ॥
Meaning:
Sumitra, knowing her son Lakshmana's devotion to Rama's feet, met Rama. When meeting Rama, Kaikeyi felt very shy in her heart.
लछिमन सब मातन्ह मिलि हरषे आसिष पाइ। कैकइ कहँ पुनि पुनि मिले मन कर छोभु न जाइ॥ ६ (ख) ॥

lachimana saba mātanha mili haraṣe āsiṣa pāi। kaikai kahaṃ puni puni mile mana kara chobhu na jāi॥ 6 (b) ॥
Meaning:
Lakshmana met all the mothers and rejoiced after receiving their blessings. He met Kaikeyi again and again, but the distress in her heart did not go away.
सासुन्ह सबनि मिली बैदेही। चरनन्हि लागि हरषु अति तेही॥ देहिं असीस बूझि कुसलाता। होइ अचल तुम्हार अहिवाता॥ १ ॥

sāsunha sabani milī baidehī। carananhī lāgi haraṣu ati tehī॥ dehiṃ asīsa būjhi kusalātā। hoi acala tumhāra ahivātā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Vaidehi met all her mothers-in-law and, touching their feet, felt great joy. They ask after her welfare and bless her, saying: may your married life remain unshaken.
सब रघुपति मुख कमल बिलोकहिं। मंगल जानि नयन जल रोकहिं॥ कनक थार आरती उतारहिं। बार बार प्रभु गात निहारहिं॥ २ ॥

saba raghupati mukha kamala bilokahiṃ। maṅgala jāni nayana jala rokahiṃ॥ kanaka thāra āratī utārahiṃ। bāra bāra prabhu gāta nihārahiṃ॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
All are gazing upon Raghupati's lotus-like face. Knowing it is an auspicious moment, they hold back the tears in their eyes. They wave ārati on golden trays and again and again behold the Lord's form.
नाना भाँति निछावरि करहीं। परमानंद हरष उर भरहीं॥ कौसल्या पुनि पुनि रघुबीरहि। चितवति कृपासिंधु रनधीरहि॥ ३ ॥

nānā bhānti nichāvari karahīṃ। paramānanda haraṣa ura bharahīṃ॥ kausalyā puni puni raghubīrahi। citavati kṛpāsindhu raṇadhīrahi॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
They make offerings in many ways and fill their hearts with supreme bliss and joy. Kausalya again and again gazes at Raghubira, the ocean of compassion and the brave warrior.
हृदयँ बिचारति बारहिं बारा। कवन भाँति लंकापति मारा॥ अति सुकुमार जुगल मेरे बारे। निसिचर सुभट महाबल भारे॥ ४ ॥

hṛdayaṃ bicāratī bārahiṃ bārā। kavana bhānti laṃkāpati mārā॥ ati sukumāra jugala mere bāre। nisicara subhaṭa mahābala bhāre॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Again and again she wonders in her heart: how did He slay the Lord of Lanka? My two children are very delicate, while the demons were mighty warriors of great strength.
लछिमन अरु सीता सहित प्रभुहि बिलोकति मातु। परमानंद मगन मन पुनि पुनि पुलकित गातु॥ ७ ॥

lachimana aru sītā sahita prabhuhi bilokati mātu। paramānanda magana mana puni puni pulakita gātu॥ 7 ॥
Meaning:
The mother beholds the Lord Rama together with Lakshmana and Sita. Her mind is immersed in supreme bliss, and her body is repeatedly thrilled with emotion.
लंकापति कपीस नल नीला। जामवंत अंगद सुभसीला॥ हनुमदादि सब बानर बीरा। धरे मनोहर मनुज सरीरा॥ १ ॥

laṃkāpati kapīsa nala nīlā। jāma vanta aṅgada subhasīlā॥ hanumadādi saba bānara bīrā। dhare manohara manuja sarīrā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Vibhishana, the Lord of Lanka; Sugriva, the lord of the monkeys; Nala; Neela; Jambavan; Angada; and Hanuman and all the other heroic monkeys assumed charming human bodies.
भरत सनेह सील ब्रत नेमा। सादर सब बरनहिं अति प्रेमा॥ देखि नगरबासिन्ह कै रीती। सकल सराहहिं प्रभु पद प्रीती॥ २ ॥

bharata saneha sīla vrata nemā। sādara saba baranahiṃ ati premā॥ dekhi nagarabāsinha kai rītī। sakala sarāhahiṃ prabhu pada prītī॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
With great love and reverence, they all respectfully praise Bharata's affection, character, vows, and observances. Seeing the way of the city-dwellers, they all extol their devotion to the Lord's feet.
पुनि रघुपति सब सखा बोलाए। मुनि पद लागहु सकल सिखाए॥ गुर बसिष्ट कुलपूज्य हमारे। इन्ह की कृपाँ दनुज रन मारे॥ ३ ॥

puni raghupati saba sakhā bolāe। muni pada lāgahu sakala sikhāe॥ gura basiṣṭa kulapūjya hamāre। inha kī kṛpāṃ danuja rana māre॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Then Lord Raghupati called all his companions and taught them to bow at the feet of the sages. Guru Vasistha is the revered one of our family; by his grace the demons were slain in battle.
ए सब सखा सुनहु मुनि मेरे। भए समर सागर कहँ बेरे॥ मम हित लागि जन्म इन्ह हारे। भरतहु ते मोहि अधिक पिआरे॥ ४ ॥

e saba sakhā sunahu muni mere। bhae samara sāgara kahaṃ bere॥ mama hita lāgi janma inha hāre। bharatahu te mohi adhika piyāre॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
He said to the sage: 'Listen, these are all my companions. They have served as boats for me across the ocean of battle. For my welfare they have laid down even their lives. They are dearer to me than Bharata himself.'
कौसल्या के चरनन्हि पुनि तिन्ह नायउ माथ। आसिष दीन्हे हरषि तुम्ह प्रिय मम जिमि रघुनाथ॥ ८ (क) ॥

kausalyā ke carananhīṃ puni tinha nāyau mātha। āsisha dīnhē haraṣi tumha priya mama jimi raghunātha॥ 8 (a) ॥
Meaning:
Then they bowed their heads at Kausalya's feet. With joy she gave them blessings and said, 'You are dear to me as Rama is.'
सुमन बृष्टि नभ संकुल भवन चले सुखकंद। चढ़ी अटारिन्ह देखहिं नगर नारि नर बृंद॥ ८ (ख) ॥

sumana bṛṣṭi nabha saṃkula bhavana cale sukhakanda। caḍhī aṭārinha dekahim nagara nāri nara bṛnda॥ 8 (b) ॥
Meaning:
With the sky crowded by showers of flowers, the joy-filled Lord went to the palace. The men and women of the city climbed the balconies and watched them.
कंचन कलस बिचित्र सँवारे। सबहिं धरे सजि निज निज द्वारे॥ बंदनवार पताका केतू। सबन्हि बनाए मंगल हेतू॥ १ ॥

kaṃcana kalasa bicitra saṃvāre। sabahiṃ dhare saji nija nija dvāre॥ baṃdanavāra patākā ketū। sabanhi banāe maṃgala hetū॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Golden jars were adorned in various splendid ways [with jewels, gems, and the like] and, after being decorated, placed at each person's own doorway. For auspiciousness, festoons, flags, and banners were put up.
बीथीं सकल सुगंध सिंचाईं। गजमनि रचि बहु चौक पुराईं॥ नाना भाँति सुमंगल साजे। हरषि नगर निसान बहु बाजे॥ २ ॥

bīthīṃ sakala sugaṃdha siṃcāīṃ। gajamani raci bahu cauka purāīṃ॥ nānā bhāṃti sumaṃgala sāje। harṣi nagara nisāna bahu bāje॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
All the streets were sprinkled with fragrant substances. Many courtyards were decorated and filled with pearl-like gems. Varieties of auspicious arrangements were made, and in joy many drums and trumpets sounded throughout the city.
जहँ तहँ नारि निछावरि करहीं। देहिं असीस हरष उर भरहीं॥ कंचन थार आरतीं नाना। जुबतीं सजें करहिं सुभ गाना॥ ३ ॥

jahaṃ tahaṃ nāri nichāvari karahīṃ। dehiṃ asīsa harṣa ura bharahīṃ॥ kaṃcana thāra āratīṃ nānā। jubatīṃ sajeṃ karahiṃ subha gānā॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Women everywhere were making offerings of gifts, and with hearts full of joy they were giving blessings. Many young women, adorned beautifully, arranged various aartis on golden plates and sang auspicious songs.
करहिं आरती आरतिहर कें। रघुकुल कमल बिपिन दिनकर कें॥ पुर सोभा संपति कल्याना। निगम सेष सारदा बखाना॥ ४ ॥

karahiṃ āratī āratihara keṃ। raghukula kamala bipina dinakara keṃ॥ pura sobhā saṃpati kalyānā। nigama seṣa sāradā bakhānā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
They perform the aarti of the remover of suffering, the sun of the lotus-grove of the Raghu line, Rama. The city's beauty, prosperity, and blessings are beyond description; the Vedas, Shesha, and Saraswati sing of them.
नारि कुमुदिनीं अवध सर रघुपति बिरह दिनेस। अस्त भएँ बिगसत भईं निरखि राम राकेस॥ ९ (क) ॥

nāri kumudinīṃ avadha sara raghupati biraha dinesa। asta bhaeṃ bigasata bhaīṃ nirakhi rāma rākeśa॥ 9 (a) ॥
Meaning:
The women are lotus lilies, Ayodhya is the lake, and separation from Raghupati is the sun. When that sun set, they blossomed on seeing Rama, the moon.
होहिं सगुन सुभ बिबिध बिधि बाजहिं गगन निसान। पुर नर नारि सनाथ करि भवन चले भगवान॥ ९ (ख) ॥

hohiṃ saguna subha bibidha bidhi bājahiṃ gagana nisāna। pura nara nāri sanātha kari bhavana cale bhagavāna॥ 9 (b) ॥
Meaning:
Auspicious omens of many kinds were appearing, and drums sounded in the sky. Blessing the men and women of the city with their presence, the Lord went to the palace.
प्रभु जानी कैकई लजानी। प्रथम तासु गृह गए भवानी॥ ताहि प्रबोधि बहुत सुख दीन्हा। पुनि निज भवन गवन हरि कीन्हा॥ १ ॥

prabhu jānī kaikaī lajānī। prathama tāsu gṛha gae bhavānī॥ tāhi prabodhi bahuta sukha dīnhā। puni nija bhavana gavana hari kīnhā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
The Lord knew that Kaikeyi was ashamed. So He first went to her house, consoled her, and gave her great comfort. Then Hari returned to His own abode.
कृपासिंधु जब मंदिर गए। पुर नर नारि सुखी सब भए॥ गुर बसिष्ट द्विज लिए बुलाई। आजु सुघरी सुदिन समुदाई॥ २ ॥

kṛpāsiṃdhu jaba maṃdira gae। pura nara nāri sukhī saba bhae॥ gura basiṣṭha dvija lie bulāī। āju sugharī sudina samudāī॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
When the ocean of mercy, Rama, went to the palace, all the men and women of the city became happy. Guru Vasishta called the Brahmins and said, 'Today is a fine hour, a beautiful day, and all auspicious conditions are present.'
सब द्विज देहु हरषि अनुसासन। रामचंद्र बैठहिं सिंघासन॥ मुनि बसिष्ट के बचन सुहाए। सुनत सकल बिप्रन्ह अति भाए॥ ३ ॥

saba dvija dehu harṣi anusāsana। rāmacandra baiṭhahiṃ siṃghāsana॥ muni basiṣṭha ke bacana suhāe। sunata sakala bipranha ati bhāe॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
All you Brahmins, gladly give your assent so that Rama may be seated on the throne. Hearing the gracious words of Muni Vasishta, all the Brahmins were greatly pleased.
कहहिं बचन मृदु बिप्र अनेका। जग अभिराम राम अभिषेका॥ अब मुनिबर बिलंब नहिं कीजै। महाराज कहँ तिलक करीजै॥ ४ ॥

kahahiṃ bacana mṛdu bipra anekā। jaga abhirāma rāma abhiṣekā॥ aba munibara bilaṃba nahiṃ kījai। mahārāja kahaṃ tilaka karījai॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
The many Brahmins spoke softly, saying, 'Rama's consecration is a joy to the whole world. O best of sages, do not delay now; perform the tilak of the Maharaja at once.'
तब मुनि कहेउ सुमंत्र सन सुनत चलेउ हरषाइ। रथ अनेक बहु बाजि गज तुरत सँवारे जाइ॥ १० (क) ॥

taba muni kaheu sumaṃtra sana sunata caleu harṣāi। ratha aneka bahu bāji gaja turata saṃvāre jāi॥ 10 (a) ॥
Meaning:
Then the sage spoke to Sumantra; hearing it, he departed in joy. He quickly arranged many chariots, horses, and elephants.
जहँ तहँ धावन पठइ पुनि मंगल द्रब्य मगाइ। हरष समेत बसिष्ट पद पुनि सिरु नायउ आइ॥ १० (ख) ॥

jahaṃ tahaṃ dhāvana paṭhai puni maṃgala dravya magāi। harṣa sameta basiṣṭha pada puni siru nāyau āi॥ 10 (b) ॥
Meaning:
Again he sent messengers here and there and had auspicious items brought. Then, with joy, he came and bowed his head at the feet of Vasishta.
अवधपुरी अति रुचिर बनाई। देवन्ह सुमन बृष्टि झरि लाई॥ राम कहा सेवकन्ह बुलाई। प्रथम सखन्ह अन्हवावहु जाई॥ १ ॥

avadhapurī ati rucira banāī। devanha sumana bṛṣṭi jhari lāī॥ rāma kahā sevakanha bulāī। prathama sakhanha anhavāvahu jāī॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Ayodhya was made exceedingly beautiful. The gods showered down a torrent of flowers. Rama called the servants and said, 'Go first and bathe my companions.'
सुनत बचन जहँ तहँ जन धाए। सुग्रीवादि तुरत अन्हवाए॥ पुनि करुनानिधि भरतु हँकारे। निज कर राम जटा निरुआरे॥ २ ॥

sunata bacana jahaṃ tahaṃ jana dhāe। sugrīvādi turata anhavāe॥ puni karunānidhi bharatu haṃkāre। nija kara rāma jaṭā niruvāre॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Hearing the Lord's command, the servants ran here and there and quickly bathed Sugriva and the others. Then the ocean of compassion, Rama, called Bharata and untangled His matted locks with His own hands.
अन्हवाए प्रभु तीनिउ भाई। भगत बछल कृपाल रघुराई॥ भरत भाग्य प्रभु कोमलताई। सेष कोटि सत सकहिं न गाई॥ ३ ॥

anhavāe prabhu tīniu bhāī। bhagata bachala kṛpāla raghurāī॥ bharata bhāgya prabhu komalatāī। seṣa koṭi sata sakahiṃ na gāī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Then the loving and compassionate Lord Raghunath bathed the three brothers. Bharata's fortune and the Lord's tenderness cannot be described even by Shesha, millions of times over.
पुनि निज जटा राम बिबराए। गुर अनुसासन मागि नहाए॥ करि मज्जन प्रभु भूषन साजे। अंग अनंग देखि सत लाजे॥ ४ ॥

puni nija jaṭā rāma bibarāe। gura anusāsana māgi nahāe॥ kari majjana prabhu bhūṣana sāje। aṃga anaṃga dekhi sata lāje॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Then Rama let down His matted locks and, asking the Guru's permission, bathed. After the bath, the Lord adorned Himself with ornaments; seeing His limbs, countless Cupids felt ashamed.
सासुन्ह सादर जानकिहि मज्जन तुरत कराइ। दिब्य बसन बर भूषन अँग अँग सजे बनाइ॥ ११ (क) ॥

sāsunha sādara jānakihi majjana turata karāi। divya basana bara bhūṣana aṅga aṅga saje banāi॥ 11 (a) ॥
Meaning:
Meanwhile, the mothers-in-law respectfully had Janaki bathed at once, and beautifully adorned her, limb by limb, with divine garments and splendid ornaments.
राम बाम दिसि सोभति रमा रूप गुन खानि। देखि मातु सब हरषीं जन्म सुफल निज जानि॥ ११ (ख) ॥

rāma bāma disi sobhati ramā rūpa guna khāni। dekhi mātu saba harṣīṃ janma suphala nija jāni॥ 11 (b) ॥
Meaning:
On Rama's left shone Rama, the mine of beauty and virtue. Seeing her, all the mothers rejoiced, considering their lives fulfilled.
सुनु खगेस तेहि अवसर ब्रह्मा सिव मुनि बृंद। चढ़ि बिमान आए सब सुर देखन सुखकंद॥ ११ (ग) ॥

sunu khagesa tehi avasara brahmā siva muni bṛnda। caṛhi bimāna āe saba sura dekhana sukhakanda॥ 11 (c) ॥
Meaning:
[Kakbhushundi says:] O lord of birds, Garuda, listen: at that time Brahma, Shiva, and hosts of sages, and all the gods riding in celestial vehicles, came to behold the source of bliss.
