Sutikshna serves Rama in a state of loving devotion. The Lord then meets Sage Agastya, speaks with him on matters of dharma, enters the Dandaka forest, and lovingly encounters Jatayu.

मुनि अगस्ति कर सिष्य सुजाना। नाम सुतीछन रति भगवाना॥ मन क्रम बचन राम पद सेवक। सपनेहुँ आन भरोस न देवक॥ १ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
muni agasti kara sisya sujānā। nāma sutīchana rati bhagavānā॥ mana krama bacana rāma pada sevaka। sapanēhuṃ āna bharosa na devaka॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Sage Agastya had a wise disciple named Sutikshan, who was devoted to the Lord. He was a servant of Rama’s feet in thought, word, and deed. Even in dreams he placed his trust in no other deity.
प्रभु आगवनु श्रवन सुनि पावा। करत मनोरथ आतुर धावा॥ हे बिधि दीनबंधु रघुराया। मो से सठ पर करिहहिं दाया॥ २ ॥

prabhu āgavanu śravana suni pāvā। karata manoratha ātura dhāvā॥ he bidhi dīnabandhu raghurāyā। mo se saṭha para karihahiṃ dāyā॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
As soon as he heard of the Lord’s arrival, he ran off in eager haste, full of many desires. O Fate! Will the compassionate Lord Raghunatha show mercy even to a wretch like me?
सहित अनुज मोहि राम गोसाईं। मिलिहहिं निज सेवक की नाईं॥ मोरे जियँ भरोस दृढ़ नाहीं। भगति बिरति न ग्यान मन माहीं॥ ३ ॥

sahita anuja mohi rāma gosāīṃ। milihahiṃ nija sevaka kī nāīṃ॥ more jiyaṃ bharosa dṛṛha nāhīṃ। bhagati birati na gyāna mana māhīṃ॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Will my Lord Rama, along with His younger brother Lakshmana, meet me as He would His own servant? I have no firm conviction in my heart, for in my mind there is neither devotion, nor detachment, nor knowledge.
नहिं सतसंग जोग जप जागा। नहिं दृढ़ चरन कमल अनुरागा॥ एक बानि करुनानिधान की। सो प्रिय जाकें गति न आन की॥ ४ ॥

nahiṃ satasaṅga joga japa jāgā। nahiṃ dṛṛha carana kamala anurāgā॥ eka bāni karuṇānidhāna kī। so priya jākeṃ gati na āna kī॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
I have done neither satsang, nor yoga, nor japa, nor sacred rites, and I have no firm love for the Lord’s lotus feet either. Yet there is one saying of the treasure-house of compassion: one who has no other support is dear to Him.
होइहैं सुफल आजु मम लोचन। देखि बदन पंकज भव मोचन॥ निर्भर प्रेम मगन मुनि ग्यानी। कहि न जाइ सो दसा भवानी॥ ५ ॥

hoihaiṃ suphala āju mama locana। dekhi badana paṅkaja bhava mocana॥ nirbhara prema magana muni gyānī। kahi na jāi so dasā bhavānī॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
[As soon as he remembered this vow of the Lord, the sage became absorbed in joy and said inwardly:] Ah! Today my eyes will be fulfilled by beholding the lotus face of the Lord who liberates from worldly bondage. [Shiva says:] O Bhavani, the wise sage is completely immersed in love. That state of his cannot be described.
दिसि अरु बिदिसि पंथ नहिं सूझा। को मैं चलेउँ कहाँ नहिं बूझा॥ कबहुँक फिरि पाछें पुनि जाई। कबहुँक नृत्य करइ गुन गाई॥ ६ ॥

disi aru bidisi paṃtha nahiṃ sūjhā। ko maiṃ caleuṃ kahāṃ nahiṃ būjhā॥ kabahuṃka phiri pācheṃ puni jāī। kabahuṃka nṛtya kara_i guna gāī॥ 6 ॥
Meaning:
He could make out neither the directions and intermediate directions, nor the path at all. He did not even know who he was or where he was going. Sometimes he would turn back and go on again, and sometimes he would dance while singing the Lord’s virtues.
अबिरल प्रेम भगति मुनि पाई। प्रभु देखैं तरु ओट लुकाई॥ अतिसय प्रीति देखि रघुबीरा। प्रगटे हृदयँ हरन भव भीरा॥ ७ ॥

abirala prema bhagati muni pāī। prabhu dekhaiṃ taru oṭa lukāī॥ atisaya prīti dekhi raghubīrā। pragaṭe hṛdayaṃ harana bhava bhīrā॥ 7 ॥
Meaning:
The sage attained unbroken, deep devotion full of love. Lord Rama was watching the devotee’s love-crazed state while hidden behind a tree. Seeing such intense love, Raghubira, the remover of worldly fear, manifested in the sage’s heart.
मुनि मग माझ अचल होइ बैसा। पुलक सरीर पनस फल जैसा॥ तब रघुनाथ निकट चलि आए। देखि दसा निज जन मन भाए॥ ८ ॥

muni maga mājha acala hoi baisā। pulaka sarīra panasa phala jaisā॥ taba raghunātha nikaṭa cali āe। dekhi dasā nija jana mana bhāe॥ 8 ॥
Meaning:
[Having beheld the Lord within his heart,] the sage sat motionless in the middle of the path. His body thrilled with goosebumps, like the rough surface of a jackfruit. Then Rama came near, and seeing the condition of His own devotee, He was greatly pleased in His heart.
मुनिहि राम बहु भाँति जगावा। जाग न ध्यान जनित सुख पावा॥ भूप रूप तब राम दुरावा। हृदयँ चतुर्भुज रूप देखावा॥ ९ ॥

munihi rāma bahu bhāṃti jagāvā। jāga na dhyāna janita sukha pāvā॥ bhūpa rūpa taba rāma durāvā। hṛdayaṃ caturbhuja rūpa dekhāvā॥ 9 ॥
Meaning:
Rama tried in many ways to wake the sage, but he did not wake, for he was enjoying the bliss born of meditation on the Lord. Then Rama concealed His royal form and revealed His four-armed form in the sage’s heart.
मुनि अकुलाइ उठा तब कैसें। बिकल हीन मनि फनिबर जैसें॥ आगें देखि राम तन स्यामा। सीता अनुज सहित सुख धामा॥ १० ॥

muni akulāi uṭhā taba kaisaiṃ। bikala hīna mani phanibara jaisaiṃ॥ āgeṃ dekhi rāma tana syāmā। sītā anuja sahita sukha dhāmā॥ 10 ॥
Meaning:
Then, when the Lord’s desired form vanished, how distressed the sage became as he rose, like a serpent king robbed of its jewel. Before him he saw Rama, dark-hued and radiant, the abode of bliss, together with Sita and Lakshmana.
परेउ लकुट इव चरनन्हि लागी। प्रेम मगन मुनिबर बड़भागी॥ भुज बिसाल गहि लिए उठाई। परम प्रीति राखे उर लाई॥ ११ ॥

pareu lakaṭa iva carananhi lāgī। prema magana munibara baḍabhāgī॥ bhuja bisāla gahi lie uṭhāī। parama prīti rākhē ura lāī॥ 11 ॥
Meaning:
That most fortunate great sage, overwhelmed with love, fell like a staff and clung to Rama’s feet. Rama lifted him up with His long arms and held him to His heart with immense affection.
मुनिहि मिलत अस सोह कृपाला। कनक तरुहि जनु भेंट तमाला॥ राम बदनु बिलोक मुनि ठाढ़ा। मानहुँ चित्र माझ लिखि काढ़ा॥ १२ ॥

munihi milata asa soha kṛpālā। kanaka taruhi janu bheṃṭa tamālā॥ rāma badanu biloka muni ṭhāṛhā। mānahuṃ citra mājha likhi kāṛhā॥ 12 ॥
Meaning:
The merciful Rama shone as He met the sage, like a tamala tree embracing a golden tree. The sage stood gazing at Rama’s face, motionless, as though he had been drawn and painted in a picture.
तब मुनि हृदयँ धीर धरि गहि पद बारहिं बार। निज आश्रम प्रभु आनि करि पूजा बिबिध प्रकार॥ १० ॥

taba muni hṛdayaṃ dhīra dhari gahi pada bārahiṃ bāra। nija āśrama prabhu āni kari pūjā bibidha prakāra॥ 10 ॥
Meaning:
Then the sage steadied his heart and repeatedly touched the Lord’s feet. After that he brought the Lord to his hermitage and worshipped Him in many ways.
कह मुनि प्रभु सुनु बिनती मोरी। अस्तुति करौं कवन बिधि तोरी॥ महिमा अमित मोरि मति थोरी। रबि सन्मुख खद्योत अँजोरी॥ १ ॥

kaha muni prabhu sunu binatī morī। astuti karauṃ kavan bidhi torī॥ mahimā amita mori mati thorī। rabi sanmukha khadyota aṃjorī॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
The sage said, “O Lord, hear my prayer. How can I possibly praise You? Your glory is immeasurable, and my understanding is small—like a firefly’s light before the sun.”
श्याम तामरस दाम शरीरं। जटा मुकुट परिधन मुनिचीरं॥ पाणि चाप शर कटि तूणीरं। नौमि निरंतर श्रीरघुवीरं॥ २ ॥

śyāma tāmarasa dāma śarīraṃ। jaṭā mukuṭa paridhana municīraṃ॥ pāṇi cāpa śara kaṭi tūṇīraṃ। naumi niraṃtara śrīraghuvīraṃ॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
O dark-hued One, whose body is like a garland of blue lotuses; whose hair is matted like a crown; who wears the bark-cloth of a sage; whose hands hold bow and arrows and whose waist bears a quiver—O Shri Raghubir, I bow to You continually.
मोह विपिन घन दहन कृशानुः। संत सरोरुह कानन भानुः॥ निसिचर करि वरूथ मृगराजः। त्रातु सदा नो भव खग बाजः॥ ३ ॥

moh vipina ghana dahana kṛśānuḥ। saṃta saroruha kānana bhānuḥ॥ nisicara kari varūtha mṛgarājaḥ। trātu sadā no bhava khaga bājaḥ॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
May the Lord, who is fire to burn the dense forest of delusion, the sun that makes the lotus-forest of the saints blossom, the lion that scatters the herds of demon-elephants, and the hawk that destroys the bird of worldly becoming, protect us always.
अरुण नयन राजीव सुवेशं। सीता नयन चकोर निशेशं॥ हर हृदि मानस बाल मरालं। नौमि राम उर बाहु विशालं॥ ४ ॥

aruna nayana rājīva suveśaṃ। sītā nayana cakoraniśeśaṃ॥ hara hṛdi mānasa bāla marālaṃ। naumi rāma ura bāhu viśālaṃ॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
O One with eyes like red lotuses and a graceful appearance; moon to the chakora-bird of Sita’s eyes; swan-cub on the Manasarovar lake of Shiva’s heart; and the broad-chested, broad-armed Rama—I bow to You.
संशय सर्प ग्रसन उरगादः। शमन सुकर्कश तर्क विषादः॥ भव भंजन रंजन सुर यूथः। त्रातु सदा नो कृपा वरूथः॥ ५ ॥

saṃśaya sarpa grasana uragādaḥ। śamana sukarkaśa tarka viṣādaḥ॥ bhava bhaṃjana raṃjana sura yūthaḥ। trātu sadā no kṛpā varūthaḥ॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
May Shri Rama, who is Garuda to swallow the serpent of doubt, who destroys the sorrow born of harsh reasoning, who ends the cycle of birth and death and delights the hosts of gods, that gracious protector, guard us always.
निर्गुण सगुण विषम सम रूपं। ज्ञान गिरा गोतीतमनूपं॥ अमलमखिलमनवद्यमपारं। नौमि राम भंजन महि भारं॥ ६ ॥

nirguṇa saguṇa viṣama sama rūpaṃ। jñāna girā gotītamanaūpaṃ॥ amalamakhilamanavadyamapāraṃ। naumi rāma bhaṃjana mahi bhāraṃ॥ 6 ॥
Meaning:
I bow to Rama, who is without qualities and yet with qualities, who is the same in all opposites, beyond knowledge, speech, and the senses; who is spotless, complete, beyond fault, limitless, and who removes the burden of the earth.
भक्त कल्पपादप आरामः। तर्जन क्रोध लोभ मद कामः॥ अति नागर भव सागर सेतुः। त्रातु सदा दिनकर कुल केतुः॥ ७ ॥

bhakta kalpapādapa ārāmaḥ। tarjana krodha lobha mada kāmaḥ॥ ati nāgara bhava sāgara setuḥ। trātu sadā dinakara kula ketuḥ॥ 7 ॥
Meaning:
May Rama, the grove of wish-fulfilling trees for devotees, who frightens away anger, greed, pride, and lust, and who is the wise bridge across the ocean of worldly existence, the banner of the Solar dynasty, always protect me.
अतुलित भुज प्रताप बल धामः। कलि मल विपुल विभंजन नामः॥ धर्म वर्म नर्मद गुण ग्रामः। संतत शं तनोतु मम रामः॥ ८ ॥

atulita bhuja pratāpa bala dhāmaḥ। kali mala vipula vibhaṃjana nāmaḥ॥ dharma varma narmada guṇa grāmaḥ। saṃtata śaṃ tanotu mama rāmaḥ॥ 8 ॥
Meaning:
May Rama, whose arms have incomparable might, who is the source of strength, whose name destroys the great impurities of Kali Yuga, who is the armor of dharma, and whose multitude of virtues is pleasing, ever extend welfare to me.
जदपि बिरज ब्यापक अबिनासी। सब के हृदयँ निरंतर बासी॥ तदपि अनुज श्री सहित खरारी। बसतु मनसि मम काननचारी॥ ९ ॥

jadapi biraja byāpaka abināsī। saba ke hṛdayaṃ niraṃtara bāsī॥ tadapi anuja śrī sahita kharārī। basatu manasi mama kānanacārī॥ 9 ॥
Meaning:
Though You are pure, all-pervading, and imperishable, dwelling continually in every heart, yet, O slayer of Khara, O Rama, together with Lakshmana and Sita, roaming in the forest, abide in my heart in that very form.
जे जानहिं ते जानहुँ स्वामी। सगुन अगुन उर अंतरजामी॥ जो कोसलपति राजिव नयना। करउ सो राम हृदय मम अयना॥ १० ॥

je jānahiṃ te jānahuṃ svāmī। saguna aguna ura aṃtarajāmī॥ jo kosalapati rājiva nayanā। karau so rāma hṛdaya mama ayanā॥ 10 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord, let those who know You as personal, impersonal, and the indwelling ruler know You so; for me, let the lotus-eyed Lord of Kosala alone make my heart His home.
अस अभिमान जाइ जनि भोरे। मैं सेवक रघुपति पति मोरे॥ सुनि मुनि बचन राम मन भाए। बहुरि हरषि मुनिबर उर लाए॥ ११ ॥

asa abhimāna jāi jani bhore। maiṃ sevaka raghupati pati more॥ suni muni bachana rāma mana bhāe। bahuri haraṣi munibara ura lāe॥ 11 ॥
Meaning:
May this pride never leave me even in error: ‘I am Your servant and Shri Raghupati is my Lord.’ Hearing the sage’s words, Rama was very pleased in His heart. Then He joyfully embraced the excellent sage.
परम प्रसन्न जानु मुनि मोही। जो बर मागहु देउँ सो तोही॥ मुनि कह मैं बर कबहुँ न जाचा। समुझि न परइ झूठ का साचा॥ १२ ॥

parama prasanna jānu muni mohī। jo bara māgahu deuṃ so tohī॥ muni kaha maiṃ bara kabahuṃ na jācā। samujhi na parai jhūṭha kā sācā॥ 12 ॥
Meaning:
And He said: “O sage, know Me to be fully pleased. Whatever boon you ask, I will grant it to you.” The sage Sutikshna replied: “I have never asked for any boon. I cannot even tell what is false and what is true.”
तुम्हहि नीक लागै रघुराई। सो मोहि देहु दास सुखदाई॥ अबिरल भगति बिरति बिग्याना। होहु सकल गुन ग्यान निधाना॥ १३ ॥

tumhahiṃ nīka lāgai raghurāī। so mohi dehu dāsa sukhadāī॥ abirala bhagati birati bigyānā। hohu sakala guna gyāna nidhānā॥ 13 ॥
Meaning:
Therefore, O Raghurai, giver of joy to Your servants, grant me what pleases You. Then Shri Rama said: “O sage, become an abode of steadfast devotion, detachment, wisdom, all virtues, and knowledge.”
अनुज जानकी सहित प्रभु चाप बान धर राम। मम हिय गगन इंदु इव बसहु सदा निहकाम॥ ११ ॥

anuja jānakī sahita prabhu cāpa bāna dhara rāma। mama hiya gagana iṃdu iva basahu sadā nihakāma॥ 11 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord, O Shri Rama, together with Lakshmana and Sita, holding bow and arrows, dwell always in the sky of my heart like the moon, without desire and forever.
एवमस्तु करि रमानिवासा। हरषि चले कुंभज रिषि पासा॥ बहुत दिवस गुर दरसनु पाएँ। भए मोहि एहिं आश्रम आएँ॥ १ ॥

evamastu kari ramanivāsā। haraṣi cale kumbhaja riṣi pāsā॥ bahuta divasa gura darasanu pāẽ। bhae mohi ehiṃ āśrama āẽ॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Saying, “So be it,” the abode of Lakshmi, Rama, joyfully went to the sage Kumbhaja’s place. Then Sutikshna said, “It has been many days since I obtained the sight of my guru and came to this hermitage.”
अब प्रभु संग जाउँ गुर पाहीं। तुम्ह कहँ नाथ निहोरा नाहीं॥ देखि कृपानिधि मुनि चतुराई। लिए संग बिहसे द्वौ भाई॥ २ ॥

aba prabhu saṃga jāũ gura pāhīṃ। tumha kahaṃ nātha nihorā nāhīṃ॥ dekhi kṛpānidhi muni caturāī। lie saṃga bihase dvau bhāī॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Now I too shall go with the Lord to the Guru. O Lord, I owe You no debt for this. Seeing the sage’s cleverness, the treasure of compassion, Rama took him along, and both brothers smiled.
पंथ कहत निज भगति अनूपा। मुनि आश्रम पहुँचे सुरभूपा॥ तुरत सुतीछन गुर पहिं गयऊ। करि दंडवत कहत अस भयऊ॥ ३ ॥

pantha kahata nija bhagati anūpā। muni āśrama pahuṃce surabhūpā॥ turata sutīchana gura pahiṃ gayeu। kari daṃḍavata kahata asa bhayeu॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
As they went along the road, speaking of His incomparable devotion, the Lord of the gods reached the hermitage of Sage Agastya. Sutikshna at once went to his guru and, bowing prostrately, began to say:
नाथ कोसलाधीस कुमारा। आए मिलन जगत आधारा॥ राम अनुज समेत बैदेही। निसि दिनु देव जपत हहु जेही॥ ४ ॥

nātha kosalādhīsa kumārā। āe milana jagata ādhārā॥ rāma anuja sameta baidehī। nisi dinu deva japata hahu jehī॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord! The princes of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya, Rama the support of the world, have come to meet you together with His younger brother Lakshmana and Sita—the One whom, O god, you recite day and night.
सुनत अगस्ति तुरत उठि धाए। हरि बिलोकि लोचन जल छाए॥ मुनि पद कमल परे द्वौ भाई। रिषि अति प्रीति लिए उर लाई॥ ५ ॥

sunata agasti turata uṭhi dhāe। hari biloki locana jala chāe॥ muni pada kamala pare dvau bhāī। riṣi ati prīti lie ura lāī॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
Hearing this, Agastya sprang up at once and hurried forward. Seeing the Lord, his eyes filled with tears. The two brothers fell at the sage’s lotus feet. With great love, the sage embraced them to his heart.
सादर कुसल पूछि मुनि ग्यानी। आसन बर बैठारे आनी॥ पुनि करि बहु प्रकार प्रभु पूजा। मोहि सम भाग्यवंत नहिं दूजा॥ ६ ॥

sādar kusala pūchi muni gyānī। āsana bara baiṭhāre ānī॥ puni kari bahu prakāra prabhu pūjā। mohi sama bhāgyavaṃta nahiṃ dūjā॥ 6 ॥
Meaning:
The wise sage respectfully inquired after their welfare and had them seated on an excellent seat. Then, worshipping the Lord in many ways, he said, “Today there is no one as fortunate as I am.”
मुनि समूह महँ बैठे सन्मुख सब की ओर। सरद इंदु तन चितवत मानहुँ निकर चकोर॥ १२ ॥

muni samūha mahaṃ baiṭhe sanmukha saba kī ora। sarada iṃdu tana citavata mānahuṃ nikara cakor॥ 12 ॥
Meaning:
In the assembly of sages, Shri Ramachandra sat facing everyone. It seemed as though each sage saw Rama sitting directly before him, while all the sages gazed steadfastly at His face—like a flock of chakoras looking toward the autumn moon.
तब रघुबीर कहा मुनि पाहीं। तुम्ह सन प्रभु दुराव कछु नाहीं॥ तुम्ह जानहु जेहि कारन आयउँ। ताते तात न कहि समुझायउँ॥ १ ॥

taba raghubīra kahā muni pāhīṃ। tumha sana prabhu durāva kachu nāhīṃ॥ tumha jānahu jehi kārana āyauṃ। tāte tāta na kahi samujhāyauṃ॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Then Rama said to the sage: "O Lord, there is nothing hidden from you. You already know the reason I have come. Therefore, O revered one, I did not explain it to you directly."
अब सो मंत्र देहु प्रभु मोही। जेहि प्रकार मारौं मुनिद्रोही॥ मुनि मुसुकाने सुनि प्रभु बानी। पूछेहु नाथ मोहि का जानी॥ २ ॥

aba so mantra dehu prabhu mohī। jehi prakāra mārauṃ munidrohī॥ muni musukāne suni prabhu bānī। pūchehu nātha mohi kā jānī॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord, now give me that counsel by which I may slay the enemies of the sages. Hearing the Lord's words, the sage smiled and said, "O Lord, with what thought have you asked me this question?"
तुम्हरेइँ भजन प्रभाव अघारी। जानउँ महिमा कछुक तुम्हारी॥ ऊमरि तरु बिसाल तव माया। फल ब्रह्मांड अनेक निकाया॥ ३ ॥

tumhareiṃ bhajana prabhāva aghārī। jānauṃ mahimā kachuka tumhārī॥ ūmari taru bisāla tava māyā। phala brahmāṇḍa aneka nikāyā॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
O destroyer of sins, it is only through the power of devotion to You that I know a little of Your greatness. Your illusion is like a vast umari tree, and countless groups of universes are its fruits.
जीव चराचर जंतु समाना। भीतर बसहिं न जानहिं आना॥ ते फल भच्छक कठिन कराला। तव भयँ डरत सदा सोउ काला॥ ४ ॥

jīva carācara jaṃtu samānā। bhītara basahiṃ na jānahiṃ ānā॥ te phala bhacchaka kaṭhina karālā। tava bhayaṃ ḍarata sadā sou kālā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Living beings, movable and immovable, dwell within them like creatures inside the fig's fruit, knowing nothing beyond their own little world. The devourer of those fruits is terrible and fierce Time itself, and even Time is always afraid of You.
ते तुम्ह सकल लोकपति साईं। पूँछेहु मोहि मनुज की नाईं॥ यह बर मागउँ कृपानिकेता। बसहु हृदयँ श्री अनुज समेता॥ ५ ॥

te tumha sakala lokapati sāīṃ। pūñchehu mohi manuja kī nāīṃ॥ yaha bara māgauṃ kṛpāniketā। basahu hṛdayaṃ śrī anuja sametā॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
You, the Lord of all the worlds, have still questioned me like an ordinary man. O abode of mercy, this is the boon I ask: may You dwell forever in my heart together with Sita and Your younger brother Lakshmana.
अबिरल भगति बिरति सतसंगा। चरन सरोरुह प्रीति अभंगा॥ जद्यपि ब्रह्म अखंड अनंता। अनुभव गम्य भजहिं जेहि संता॥ ६ ॥

abirala bhagati birati satasaṃgā। carana saroruha prīti abhaṃgā॥ jadyapi brahma akhaṇḍa anaṃtā। anubhava gamya bhajahiṃ jehi saṃtā॥ 6 ॥
Meaning:
Grant me unwavering devotion, detachment, holy company, and unfailing love for Your lotus feet. Though You are the indivisible and infinite Brahman, knowable only through direct experience, the saints worship You.
अस तव रूप बखानउँ जानउँ। फिरि फिरि सगुन ब्रह्म रति मानउँ॥ संतत दासन्ह देहु बड़ाई। तातें मोहि पूँछेहु रघुराई॥ ७ ॥

asa tava rūpa bakhānauṃ jānauṃ। phiri phiri saguna brahma rati mānauṃ॥ saṃtata dāsanha dehu baṛāī। tāteṃ mohi pūñchehu raghurāī॥ 7 ॥
Meaning:
Even though I know and describe Your form, again and again I delight in loving the saguna Brahman alone, in this beautiful form of Yours. You always bestow honor on Your servants; therefore, O Raghurai, You have asked me.
है प्रभु परम मनोहर ठाऊँ। पावन पंचबटी तेहि नाऊँ॥ दंडक बन पुनीत प्रभु करहू। उग्र साप मुनिबर कर हरहू॥ ८ ॥

hai prabhu parama manohara ṭhāūṃ। pāvana paṃcabaṭī tehi nāūṃ॥ daṇḍaka bana punīta prabhu karahū। ugra sāpa munibara kara harahū॥ 8 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord, there is a supremely beautiful and sacred place; its name is Panchavati. O Lord, purify the Dandaka forest and remove the terrible curse of the great sage.
बास करहु तहँ रघुकुल राया। कीजे सकल मुनिन्ह पर दाया॥ चले राम मुनि आयसु पाई। तुरतहिं पंचबटी निअराई॥ ९ ॥

bāsa karahu tahaṃ raghukula rāyā। kīje sakala muninha para dāyā॥ cale rāma muni āyasu pāī। turatahiṃ paṃcabaṭī niarāī॥ 9 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord of the Raghu dynasty, dwell there and show kindness to all the sages. Receiving the sage's command, Rama set out and soon reached near Panchavati.
गीधराज सैं भेंट भइ बहु बिधि प्रीति बढ़ाइ। गोदावरी निकट प्रभु रहे परन गृह छाइ॥ १३ ॥

gīdharāja saiṃ bheṃṭa bhai bahu bidhi prīti baṛhāi। godāvarī nikaṭa prabhu rahe parana gṛha chāi॥ 13 ॥

There, an meeting took place with Gidharaja Jatayu. After deepening affection in many ways, Lord Ramachandra stayed near the Godavari in a leaf-hut.
