Vibhishana's Plea and Rama's Urgency to Return to Bharata
Vibhishana humbly asks the Lord to remain in Lanka for a while. Rama speaks of Bharata's loving anguish and expresses his urgency to return to Ayodhya without delay.

करि बिनती जब संभु सिधाए। तब प्रभु निकट बिभीषनु आए॥ नाइ चरन सिरु कह मृदु बानी। बिनय सुनहु प्रभु सारँगपानी॥ १ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kari binatī jaba saṃbhu sidhāe। taba prabhu nikaṭa bibhīṣanu āe॥ nāi carana siru kaha mṛdu bānī। binaya sunahu prabhu sāraṅgapānī॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
After Shiva departed, Vibhishana came near the Lord. Bowing his head at His feet, he spoke in a gentle voice: “Hear my prayer, O Lord, wielder of the Saranga bow.”
सकुल सदल प्रभु रावन मार्यो। पावन जस त्रिभुवन बिस्तार्यो॥ दीन मलीन हीन मति जाती। मो पर कृपा कीन्हि बहु भाँती॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
sakula sadala prabhu rāvana māryo। pāvana jasa tribhuvana bistāryo॥ dīna malīna hīna mati jātī। mo para kṛpā kīnhi bahu bhāṃtī॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
You slew Ravana along with his family and army, and spread your holy fame throughout the three worlds. On me, poor, impure, low in intelligence, and without status, you have shown your grace in many ways.
अब जन गृह पुनीत प्रभु कीजे। मज्जनु करिअ समर श्रम छीजे॥ देखि कोस मंदिर संपदा। देहु कृपाल कपिन्ह कहुँ मुदा॥ ३ ॥

aba jana gṛha punīta prabhu kīje। majjanu karia samara śrama chīje॥ dekhi kosa mandira saṃpadā। dehu kṛpāla kapinha kahuṃ mudā॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Now, O Lord, please make this servant’s home sacred and bathe there, so that the fatigue of battle may be relieved. O merciful one, inspect the treasure, palace, and wealth, and gladly give them to the monkeys.
सब बिधि नाथ मोहि अपनाइअ। पुनि मोहि सहित अवधपुर जाइअ॥ सुनत बचन मृदु दीनदयाला। सजल भए द्वौ नयन बिसाला॥ ४ ॥

saba bidhi nātha mohi apanāia। puni mohi sahita avadhapura jāia॥ sunata bacana mṛdu dīnadayālā। sajala bhae dvau nayana bisālā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord, accept me in every way, and then go with me to the city of Ayodhya. Hearing Vibhishana’s gentle words, the compassionate Lord’s two large eyes filled with tears.
तोर कोस गृह मोर सब सत्य बचन सुनु भ्रात। भरत दसा सुमिरत मोहि निमिष कल्प सम जात॥ ११६ (क) ॥

tora kosa gṛha mora saba satya bacana sunu bhrāta। bharata dasā sumirata mohi nimiṣa kalpa sama jāta॥ 116 (a) ॥
Meaning:
[Shri Rama said:] O brother, listen: your treasury and house are all mine; this is truly so. But remembering Bharata’s condition, each moment feels to me like a kalpa.
तापस बेष गात कृस जपत निरंतर मोहि। देखौं बेगि सो जतनु करु सखा निहोरउँ तोहि॥ ११६ (ख) ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
tāpasa besa gāta kṛsa japata nirantara mohi। dekhauṃ begi so jatanu karu sakhā nihoraum̐ tohi॥ 116 (b) ॥
Meaning:
In the guise of an ascetic, with a thin body, he is continuously chanting My name. O friend, do whatever will let Me see him quickly; I beseech you.
बीतें अवधि जाउँ जौं जिअत न पावउँ बीर। सुमिरत अनुज प्रीति प्रभु पुनि पुनि पुलक सरीर॥ ११६ (ग) ॥

bīteṃ avadhi jāuṃ jauṃ jiat na pāvauṃ bīra। sumirata anuja prīti prabhu puni puni pulaka sarīra॥ 116 (c) ॥
Meaning:
If I go after the appointed time has passed, I may not find my brother alive. Remembering the affection of his younger brother Bharata, the Lord’s body is thrilled again and again.
करेहु कल्प भरि राजु तुम्ह मोहि सुमिरेहु मन माहिं। पुनि मम धाम पाइहहु जहाँ संत सब जाहिं॥ ११६ (घ) ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
karehu kalpa bhari rāju tumha mohi sumirehu mana māhiṃ। puni mama dhāma pāihahu jahāṃ santa saba jāhiṃ॥ 116 (d) ॥
Meaning:
[Shri Rama further said:] O Vibhishana, rule for a whole kalpa, while remembering Me in your mind. Then you will attain My abode, where all saints go.
