Vibhishana Showers Gifts on the Vanaras and Bears
As a gesture of gratitude, Vibhishana showers garments and ornaments upon the Vanaras and bears. They wear them with innocent delight and great joy.

सुनत बिभीषन बचन राम के। हरषि गहे पद कृपाधाम के॥ बानर भालु सकल हरषाने। गहि प्रभु पद गुन बिमल बखाने॥ १ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
sunata bibhīṣana bacana rāma ke। harṣi gahe pada kṛpādhāma ke॥ bānara bhālu sakala harṣāne। gahi prabhu pada guna bimala bakhāne॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Hearing Lord Rama’s words, Vibhishana joyfully seized the feet of the abode of mercy. All the monkeys and bears rejoiced, and taking hold of the Lord’s feet, they began to praise His pure virtues.
बहुरि बिभीषन भवन सिधायो। मनि गन बसन बिमान भरायो॥ लै पुष्पक प्रभु आगें राखा। हँसि करि कृपासिंधु तब भाषा॥ २ ॥

bahuri bibhīṣana bhavana sidhāyo। mani gana basana bimāna bharāyo॥ lai puṣpaka prabhu āgeṃ rākhā। haṃsi kari kṛpāsindhu taba bhāṣā॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Then Vibhishana went back to the palace and filled the aircraft with heaps of jewels and clothes. He brought the Pushpaka विमान and placed it before the Lord. Then the ocean of mercy, smiling, said:
चढ़ि बिमान सुनु सखा बिभीषन। गगन जाइ बरषहु पट भूषन॥ नभ पर जाइ बिभीषन तबही। बरषि दिए मनि अंबर सबही॥ ३ ॥

caḍhi bimāna sunu sakhā bibhīṣana। gagana jāi baraṣahu paṭa bhūṣana॥ nabha para jāi bibhīṣana tabahī। baraṣi die mani aṃbara sabahī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Climb aboard the aircraft, O friend Vibhishana, and go into the sky to shower garments and ornaments. At once Vibhishana went into the sky and rained down all the jewels and garments.
जोइ जोइ मन भावइ सोइ लेहीं। मनि मुख मेलि डारि कपि देहीं॥ हँसे रामु श्री अनुज समेता। परम कौतुकी कृपा निकेता॥ ४ ॥

joi joi mana bhāvai soi lehīṃ। mani mukh meli ḍāri kapi dehīṃ॥ haṃse rāmu śrī anuja sametā। parama kautukī kṛpā niketā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Each takes whatever pleases his mind. The monkeys take the jewels in their mouths and then spit them out. Seeing this spectacle, Rama, the abode of mercy and delight, laughed along with Lakshmana.
मुनि जेहि ध्यान न पावहिं नेति नेति कह बेद। कृपासिंधु सोइ कपिन्ह सन करत अनेक बिनोद॥ ११७ (क) ॥

muni jehi dhyāna na pāvahiṃ neti neti kaha beda। kṛpāsindhu soi kapinha sana karata aneka binoda॥ 117 (a) ॥
Meaning:
He whom the sages cannot reach even in meditation, whom the Vedas describe as “not this, not this,” is the very ocean of mercy, now engaging in countless playful acts with the monkeys.
उमा जोग जप दान तप नाना मख ब्रत नेम। राम कृपा नहिं करहिं तसि जसि निष्केवल प्रेम॥ ११७ (ख) ॥

umā joga japa dāna tapa nānā makha brata nema। rāma kṛpā nahiṃ karahiṃ tasi jasi niṣkevala prema॥ 117 (b) ॥
Meaning:
[Shiva says:] O Uma, even after performing many kinds of yoga, japa, charity, austerity, sacrifices, vows, and disciplines, Rama does not show the same grace as He does when there is single-minded love.
भालु कपिन्ह पट भूषन पाए। पहिरि पहिरि रघुपति पहिं आए॥ नाना जिनस देखि सब कीसा। पुनि पुनि हँसत कोसलाधीसा॥ १ ॥

bhālu kapinha paṭa bhūṣana pāe। pahiri pahiri raghupati pahiṃ āe॥ nānā jinasa dekhi saba kīsā। puni puni haṃsata kosalādhīsā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
The bears and monkeys received garments and ornaments, and putting them on again and again came before Raghupati. Seeing the many kinds of creatures, the Lord of Kosala kept smiling again and again.
चितइ सबन्हि पर कीन्ही दाया। बोले मृदुल बचन रघुराया॥ तुम्हरें बल मैं रावनु मार्यो। तिलक बिभीषन कहँ पुनि सार्यो॥ २ ॥

cita'i sabanhi para kīn̐hī dāyā। bole mṛdula bacana raghurāyā॥ tumhareṃ bala maiṃ rāvanu māryo। tilaka bibhīṣana kahaṃ puni sāryo॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Casting a merciful glance on all, Raghuraya spoke softly: “By your strength I slew Ravana, and I again crowned Vibhishana as king.”
निज निज गृह अब तुम्ह सब जाहू। सुमिरेहु मोहि डरपहु जनि काहू॥ सुनत बचन प्रेमाकुल बानर। जोरि पानि बोले सब सादर॥ ३ ॥

nija nija gṛha aba tumha saba jāhū। sumirehu mohi ḍarapahu jani kāhū॥ sunata bacana premākula bānara। jori pāni bole saba sādara॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Now all of you go to your own homes. Keep remembering Me and fear no one. Hearing these words, all the monkeys were overcome with love and, joining their hands, spoke respectfully:
प्रभु जोइ कहहु तुम्हहि सब सोहा। हमरें होत बचन सुनि मोहा॥ दीन जानि कपि किए सनाथा। तुम्ह त्रैलोक ईस रघुनाथा॥ ४ ॥

prabhu joi kahahu tumhahi saba sohā। hamareṃ hota bacana suni mohā॥ dīna jāni kapi kie sanāthā। tumha trailoka īsa raghunāthā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
O Lord, whatever you say befits you; yet hearing your words, we are spellbound. Knowing us to be helpless, you have made us your own, for you are the Lord of the three worlds, Raghunatha.
सुनि प्रभु बचन लाज हम मरहीं। मसक कहूँ खगपति हित करहीं॥ देखि राम रुख बानर रीछा। प्रेम मगन नहिं गृह कै ईछा॥ ५ ॥

suni prabhu bacana lāja hama marahīṃ। masaka kahūṃ khagapati hita karahīṃ॥ dekhi rāma rukha bānara rīchā। prema magana nahiṃ gṛha kai īchā॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
Hearing such words from the Lord, we are dying of shame. Can even a mosquito ever do a favor for Garuda? Seeing Rama’s bearing, the bears and monkeys became immersed in love; they had no desire to return home.
प्रभु प्रेरित कपि भालु सब राम रूप उर राखि। हरष बिषाद सहित चले बिनय बिबिध बिधि भाषि॥ ११८ (क) ॥

prabhu prerita kapi bhālu saba rāma rūpa ura rāki। harṣa biṣāda sahita cale binaya bibidha bidhi bhāṣi॥ 118 (a) ॥
Meaning:
Prompted by the Lord, all the monkeys and bears, holding Rama’s form in their hearts, departed with both joy and sorrow, speaking their prayers in many ways.
कपिपति नील रीछपति अंगद नल हनुमान। सहित बिभीषन अपर जे जूथप कपि बलवान॥ ११८ (ख) ॥

kapipati nīla rīchapati aṃgada nala hanumāna। sahita bibhīṣana apara je jūthapa kapi balavāna॥ 118 (b) ॥
Meaning:
The monkey king Sugriva, Nila, the lord of the bears Jambavan, Angada, Nala, Hanuman, Vibhishana, and the other powerful monkey chiefs.
कहि न सकहिं कछु प्रेम बस भरि भरि लोचन बारि। सन्मुख चितवहिं राम तन नयन निमेष निवारि॥ ११८ (ग) ॥

kahi na sakahiṃ kachu prema basa bhari bhari locana bāri। sanmukha citavahiṃ rāma tana nayana nimeṣa nivāri॥ 118 (c) ॥
Meaning:
Overcome by love, they could say nothing; their eyes brimmed with tears, and without blinking they gazed face to face at Rama.
