कहि प्रिय बचन प्रिया समुझाई। लगे मातु पद आसिष पाई॥ बेगि प्रजा दुख मेटब आई। जननी निठुर बिसरि जनि जाई॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kahi priya bacana priyā samujhāī। lage mātu pada āsiṣa pāī॥ begi prajā dukha meṭaba āī। jananī niṭhura bisari jani jāī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Shri Ramachandra comforted his beloved Sita with sweet words. Then he bowed at his mother's feet and received her blessings. [The mother said:] "Son, return quickly and remove the suffering of the people, and let not this stern mother be forgotten by you!"
फिरिहि दसा बिधि बहुरि कि मोरी। देखिहउँ नयन मनोहर जोरी॥ सुदिन सुघरी तात कब होइहि। जननी जिअत बदन बिधु जोइहि॥ ४ ॥

phirihi dasā bidhi bahuri ki morī। dekhihaum̐ nayana manohara jorī॥ sudina sugharī tāta kaba hoihi। jananī jiata badana bidhu joihi॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
O Fate, will my condition ever change again? Will I be able to see this lovely pair again with my own eyes? O son, when will that beautiful day and auspicious hour come when your mother will see your moonlike face again while she is still alive?
बहुरि बच्छ कहि लालु कहि रघुपति रघुबर तात। कबहिं बोलाइ लगाइ हियँ हरषि निरखिहउँ गात॥ ६८ ॥

bahuri baccha kahi lālu kahi raghupati raghubara tāta। kabahiṃ bolāi lagāi hiyaṃ haraṣi nirakhihauṃ gāta॥ 68 ॥
Meaning:
O son, when shall I again call you "child," "dear one," "Raghupati," and "Raghubar," draw you into my heart, and joyfully behold your limbs?
लखि सनेह कातरि महतारी। बचनु न आव बिकल भइ भारी॥ राम प्रबोधु कीन्ह बिधि नाना। समउ सनेहु न जाइ बखाना॥ १ ॥

lakhi saneha kātari mahatārī। bacanu na āva bikala bhaī bhārī॥ rāma prabodhu kīnhi bidhi nānā। samau sanehu na jāi bakhānā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Seeing that the mother was overwhelmed by affection and so deeply distressed that no words could come from her mouth, Shri Ramachandra comforted her in many ways. That moment and that love cannot be described.
तब जानकी सासु पग लागी। सुनिअ माय मैं परम अभागी॥ सेवा समय दैअँ बनु दीन्हा। मोर मनोरथु सफल न कीन्हा॥ २ ॥

taba jānakī sāsu paga lāgī। suni'a māya maiṃ parama abhāgī॥ sevā samaya daiaṃ bana dīnhā। mora manorathu safala na kīnhā॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Then Janaki bowed at her mother-in-law's feet and said, "Listen, Mother, I am indeed most unfortunate. At the time when I was to serve you, fate has sent me into exile in the forest. It has not fulfilled my wish."
तजब छोभु जनि छाड़िअ छोहू। करमु कठिन कछु दोसु न मोहू॥ सुनि सिय बचन सासु अकुलानी। दसा कवनि बिधि कहौं बखानी॥ ३ ॥

tajaba chobhu jani chhāḍi'a chohū। karamu kaṭhina kachu dosu na mohū॥ suni siya bacana sāsu akulānī। dasā kavani bidhi kahauṃ bakhānī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Please give up your distress, but do not abandon your compassion. The movement of karma is hard to understand, and I bear no fault. Hearing Sita's words, the mother-in-law was overwhelmed. How can I possibly describe her condition?
बारहिं बार लाइ उर लीन्ही। धरि धीरजु सिख आसिष दीन्ही॥ अचल होउ अहिवातु तुम्हारा। जब लगि गंग जमुन जल धारा॥ ४ ॥

bārahim̐ bāra lāi ura līnhī। dhari dhīraju sikha āsiṣa dīnhī॥ acala hou ahivātu tumhārā। jaba lagi gaṅga jamuna jala dhārā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
She embraced Sita again and again, steadied herself, and gave counsel and blessings, saying, "May your married life remain firm as long as the streams of the Ganga and Yamuna continue to flow."
सीतहि सासु असीस सिख दीन्हि अनेक प्रकार। चली नाइ पद पदुम सिरु अति हित बारहिं बार॥ ६९ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
sītahi sāsu asīsa sikha dīnhi aneka prakāra। calī nāi pada paduma siru ati hita bārahim̐ bāra॥ 69 ॥
Meaning:
Sita's mother-in-law gave her blessings and counsel in many ways, and Sita departed, bowing her head again and again at the lotus feet with great affection.
