केकीकण्ठाभनीलं सुरवरविलसद्विप्रपादाब्जचिह्नं शोभाढ्यं पीतवस्त्रं सरसिजनयनं सर्वदा सुप्रसन्नम्। पाणौ नाराचचापं कपिनिकरयुतं बन्धुना सेव्यमानं नौमीड्यं जानकीशं रघुवरमनिशं पुष्पकारूढरामम्॥ १ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kekīkaṇṭhābhanīlaṃ suravaravilasadviprapādābjacihnaṃ śobhāḍhyaṃ pītavastraṃ sarasijanayanaṃ sarvadā suprasannam। pāṇau nārācacāpaṃ kapinikarayutaṃ bandhunā sevyamānaṃ naumīḍyaṃ jānakīśaṃ raghuvaramaniśaṃ puṣpakārūḍharāmam॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
I constantly bow to Rama, the husband of Janaki, best of the Raghus, mounted on the Pushpaka विमान, dark-blue like the peacock’s neck, adorned with the marks of the lotus feet of the foremost among gods and Brahmins, splendid, clad in yellow garments, lotus-eyed, ever radiant with joy, holding arrows and bow in His hands, accompanied by hosts of monkeys, and attended by Lakshmana.
कोसलेन्द्रपदकञ्जमञ्जुलौ कोमलावजमहेशवन्दितौ। जानकीकरसरोजलालितौ चिन्तकस्य मनभृङ्गसङ्गिनौ॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kosalendrapadakañjamañjulau komalāvajamaheśavanditau। jānakīkarasarojalālītau cintakasya manabhṛṅgasaṅginau॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
The beautiful and tender lotus-feet of the Lord of Kosala are worshipped by Brahma and Shiva, fondled by Janaki’s lotus-like hands, and ever accompanied by the bee-like mind of the contemplative devotee—that is, the devotee’s mind ever dwells on those lotus feet.
कुन्दइन्दुदरगौरसुन्दरं अम्बिकापतिमभीष्टसिद्धिदम्। कारुणीककलकञ्जलोचनं नौमि शङ्करमनङ्गमोचनम्॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kundaindudaragaurasundaraṃ ambikāpatimabhīṣṭasiddhidam। kāruṇīkakalakañjalochanaṃ naumi śaṅkaramanaṅgamocanam॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
I bow to Shiva, consort of Mother Ambika, fair and beautiful like the kunda flower and the moon, the giver of desired boons, full of compassion, lotus-eyed, and the destroyer of desire.
रहा एक दिन अवधि कर अति आरत पुर लोग। जहँ तहँ सोचहिं नारि नर कृस तन राम बियोग॥ १ ॥

rahā eka dina avadhi kar ati ārata pura loga। jahaṁ tahaṁ socahiṃ nāri nara kr̥sa tana rāma biyaoga॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Only one day remained in the appointed time, and the people of the city were अत्यन्त restless. Men and women grown lean through separation from Rama were wandering here and there, anxiously thinking.
सगुन होहिं सुंदर सकल मन प्रसन्न सब केर। प्रभु आगवन जनाव जनु नगर रम्य चहुँ फेर॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
saguna hohiṃ sundara sakala mana prasanna saba kera। prabhu āgavana janāva janu nagara ramya cahuṁ fera॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Then all sorts of auspicious signs appeared and everyone’s heart became joyful. The city too seemed beautiful on all sides, as if all these signs were announcing the Lord’s auspicious arrival.
कौसल्यादि मातु सब मन अनंद अस होइ। आयउ प्रभु श्री अनुजजुत कहन चहत अब कोइ॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kausalyādi mātu saba mana ananda asa hoi। āyau prabhu śrī anuja juta kahana cahata aba koi॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
All the mothers, beginning with Kausalya, felt such joy in their hearts as though someone were just about to announce that Lord Shri Ramchandra had arrived with Sita and Lakshmana.
भरत नयन भुज दच्छिन फरकत बारहिं बार। जानि सगुन मन हरष अति लागे करन बिचार॥ ४ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
bharata nayana bhuja dacchina pharakata bārahiṃ bāra। jāni saguna mana haraṣa ati lāge karana bicāra॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Bharata’s right eye and right arm were twitching again and again. Taking this as an auspicious sign, he felt great joy and began to reflect.
