तात कुसल कहु सुखनिधान की। सहित अनुज अरु मातु जानकी॥ कपि सब चरित समास बखाने। भए दुखी मन महुँ पछिताने॥ १ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

tāta kusala kahu sukhanidhāna kī। sahita anuja aru mātu jānakī॥ kapi saba carita samāsa bakhāne। bhae dukhī mana mahuṃ pachitāne॥ 1 ॥

Meaning

[Bharat said:] O dear one, tell me whether Rama, the treasure of bliss, is well, along with his younger brother Lakshmana and Mother Janaki. The monkey related the whole story in brief. Hearing it, Bharat became sorrowful and began to repent in his heart.
