रामु लखनु उर कर बर चीठी। रहि गए कहत न खाटी मीठी॥ पुनि धरि धीर पत्रिका बाँची। हरषी सभा बात सुनि साँची॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
rāmu lakhanu ura kara bara cīṭhī। rahi gae kahata na khāṭī mīṭhī॥ puni dhari dhīra patrikā bāṃcī। haraṣī sabhā bāta suni sāṃcī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning
Rama and Lakshmana were in his heart, and the beautiful letter was in his hand; the king remained holding it and could say nothing, neither bitter nor sweet. Then, steadying himself, he read the letter. The whole assembly rejoiced on hearing the true news.
