पूत परम प्रिय तुम्ह सबही के। प्रान प्रान के जीवन जी के॥ ते तुम्ह कहहु मातु बन जाऊँ। मैं सुनि बचन बैठि पछिताऊँ॥ ४ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

pūta parama priya tumha sabahī ke। prāna prāna ke jīvana jī ke॥ te tumha kahahu mātu bana jāūṃ। maiṃ suni bacana baiṭhi pachi tāūṃ॥ 4 ॥

Meaning

Son, you are supremely dear to everyone, the life of our lives, the very life-breath of life. And yet you say, 'Mother, I shall go to the forest,' and I, hearing your words, would sit here and repent.
