एहि बिधि सकल जीव जग रोगी। सोक हरष भय प्रीति बियोगी॥ मानस रोग कछुक मैं गाए। हहिं सब कें लखि बिरलेन्ह पाए॥ १ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
ehi bidhi sakala jīva jag rogī। soka haraṣa bhaya prīti biyogī॥ mānasa roga kachuka maiṃ gāe। hahiṃ saba keṃ lakhi biralenha pāe॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
In this way, all beings in the world are afflicted with disease—sorrow, joy, fear, love, and separation. I have spoken of only a few of the diseases of the mind. They exist in everyone, but only a rare few recognize them.
जाने ते छीजहिं कछु पापी। नास न पावहिं जन परितापी॥ बिषय कुपथ्य पाइ अंकुरे। मुनिहु हृदयँ का नर बापुरे॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
jāne te chījahim kachu pāpī। nāsa na pāvahim jana paritāpī॥ biṣaya kupathya pāi aṃkure। munihu hṛdayaṃ kā nara bāpure॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
When these sinful afflictions are recognized, they do become somewhat weakened, but they do not perish. Nourished by the evil food of sense objects, they even sprout in the hearts of sages; then what can be said of poor ordinary human beings?
राम कृपाँ नासहिं सब रोगा। जौं एहि भाँति बनै संजोगा॥ सदगुर बैद बचन बिस्वासा। संजम यह न बिषय कै आसा॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
rāma kṛpāṃ nāsahim saba rogā। jauṃ ehi bhāṃti banai saṃjogā॥ sadagura baida bacana bisvāsā। saṃjama yaha na biṣaya kai āsā॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
By Rama's grace, if such a conjunction can come about, then all these diseases are destroyed. One must have faith in the words of the true guru-physician, and restraint means having no desire for sense objects.
रघुपति भगति सजीवन मूरी। अनूपान श्रद्धा मति पूरी॥ एहि बिधि भलेहिं सो रोग नसाहीं। नाहिं त जतन कोटि नहिं जाहीं॥ ४ ॥

raghupati bhagati sajīvana mūrī। anūpāna śraddhā mati pūrī॥ ehi bidhi bhalehiṃ so roga nasāhīṃ। nāhiṃ ta jatana koṭi nahiṃ jāhīṃ॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
The devotion to Raghupati is the life-giving herb; perfect faith and understanding are the accompanying potion. If this combination is present, those diseases are surely destroyed; otherwise, they do not go away even with millions of efforts.
जानिअ तब मन बिरुज गोसाँई। जब उर बल बिराग अधिकाई॥ सुमति छुधा बाढ़इ नित नई। बिषय आस दुर्बलता गई॥ ५ ॥

jānia taba mana biruja gosāṃī। jaba ura bala birāga adhikāī॥ sumati chudhā bāṛhai nita naī। biṣaya āsa durbalatā gaī॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
O Gosain, know the mind to be healthy when the strength of detachment grows in the heart, when the hunger for good understanding grows ever anew, and when the weakness born of desire for sense objects disappears.
बिमल ग्यान जल जब सो नहाई। तब रह राम भगति उर छाई॥ सिव अज सुक सनकादिक नारद। जे मुनि ब्रह्म बिचार बिसारद॥ ६ ॥

bimala gyāna jala jaba so nahāī। taba raha rāma bhagati ura chhāī॥ siva aja suka sanakādika nārada। je muni brahma bicāra bisārada॥ 6 ॥
Meaning:
When one bathes in the pure waters of knowledge, then devotion to Rama fills the heart. Shiva, Brahma, Shuka, Sanaka, Narada, and the sages who are masters in contemplation of Brahman...
सब कर मत खगनायक एहा। करिअ राम पद पंकज नेहा॥ श्रुति पुरान सब ग्रंथ कहाहीं। रघुपति भगति बिना सुख नाहीं॥ ७ ॥

saba kara mata khaganāyaka ehā। kariya rāma pada paṃkaja nehā॥ śruti purāna saba grantha kahāhīṃ। raghupati bhagati binā sukha nāhīṃ॥ 7 ॥
Meaning:
O lord of the birds, all of them hold this view: one should love the lotus feet of Rama. The Vedas, the Puranas, and all scriptures say that without devotion to Raghupati there is no happiness.
कमठ पीठ जामहिं बरु बारा। बंध्यासुत बरु काहुहि मारा॥ फूलहिं नभ बरु बहुबिधि फूला। जीव न लह सुख हरि प्रतिकूला॥ ८ ॥

kamaṭha pīṭha jāmahiṃ baru bārā। baṃdhyāsuta baru kāhuhī mārā॥ phūlahiṃ nabha baru bahubidhi phūlā। jīva na laha sukha hari pratikūlā॥ 8 ॥
Meaning:
A tortoise may grow hair on its back, a child of a barren woman may kill someone, and flowers may bloom in the sky; but a being turned away from Hari cannot attain happiness.
तृषा जाइ बरु मृगजल पाना। बरु जामहिं सस सीस बिषाना॥ अंधकारु बरु रबिहि नसावै। राम बिमुख न जीव सुख पावै॥ ९ ॥

tṛṣā jāi baru mṛigajala pānā। baru jāmahiṃ sasa sīsa biṣānā॥ adhakāru baru rabihi nasāvai। rāma bimukha na jīva sukha pāvai॥ 9 ॥
Meaning:
A thirst may be quenched by drinking the water of a mirage, a hare may grow horns on its head, and darkness may destroy the sun; but a being turned away from Rama cannot attain happiness.
बारि मथें घृत होइ बरु सिकता ते बरु तेल। बिनु हरि भजन न भव तरिअ यह सिद्धांत अपेल॥ १२२ (क) ॥

bāri matheṃ ghṛta hoi baru sikaṭā te baru tela। binu hari bhajana na bhava taria yaha siddhāṃta apel॥ 122 (a) ॥
Meaning:
Even if butter could be churned from water and oil could be pressed from sand, without devotion to Hari one cannot cross the ocean of worldly existence. This principle is unshakable.
मसकहि करइ बिरंचि प्रभु अजहि मसक ते हीन। अस बिचारि तजि संसय रामहि भजहिं प्रबीन॥ १२२ (ख) ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
masakahi karai biraṃci prabhu ajahi masaka te hīna। asa bicāri taji saṃsaya rāmahi bhajahiṃ pravīna॥ 122 (b) ॥
Meaning:
The Lord can make Brahma into a mosquito, and can make Brahma lower than a mosquito. Reflecting thus, the wise abandon all doubt and worship Rama alone.
विनिश्चितं वदामि ते न अन्यथा वचांसि मे। हरिं नरा भजन्ति येऽतिदुस्तरं तरन्ति ते॥ १२२ (ग) ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
viniścitaṃ vadāmi te na anyathā vacāṃsi me। hariṃ narā bhajanti ye'tidustaraṃ taranti te॥ 122 (c) ॥
Meaning:
I tell you this with certainty; my words are not otherwise. Those who worship Hari cross over the exceedingly difficult ocean of worldly existence.
