बिप्र रूप धरि बचन सुनाए। सुनत बिभीषन उठि तहँ आए॥ करि प्रनाम पूँछी कुसलाई। बिप्र कहहु निज कथा बुझाई॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
bipra rūpa dhari bacana sunāe। sunata bibhīṣana uṭhi tahaṃ āe॥ kari pranāma pūṃchī kusalāī। bipra kahahu nija kathā bujhāī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Assuming the form of a Brahmin, Hanuman spoke to him. Hearing this, Vibhishana rose and came there. After bowing, he inquired about his welfare and said, 'O Brahmin, please tell your story clearly.'
की तुम्ह हरि दासन्ह महँ कोई। मोरें हृदय प्रीति अति होई॥ की तुम्ह रामु दीन अनुरागी। आयहु मोहि करन बड़भागी॥ ४ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kī tumha hari dāsanha mahāṃ koī। moreṃ hṛdaya prīti ati hoī॥ kī tumha rāmu dīna anurāgī। āyahu mohi karana baṛabhāgī॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Are you one among the devotees of Hari? For great affection is rising in my heart at the sight of you. Or are you Rama himself, who loves the humble, come to make me blessed by granting me your presence at my very home?
तब हनुमंत कही सब राम कथा निज नाम। सुनत जुगल तन पुलक मन मगन सुमिरि गुन ग्राम॥ ६ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
taba hanumaṃta kahī saba rāma kathā nija nāma। sunata jugala tana pulaka mana magana sumiri guna grāma॥ 6 ॥
Meaning:
Then Hanuman told the whole story of Shri Rama and revealed his own name. On hearing this, both their bodies thrilled with joy, and remembering the hosts of Rama's virtues, both their minds became absorbed in delight.
सुनहु पवनसुत रहनि हमारी। जिमि दसनन्हि महुँ जीभ बिचारी॥ तात कबहुँ मोहि जानि अनाथा। करिहहिं कृपा भानुकुल नाथा॥ १ ॥

sunahu pavanasuta rahani hamārī। jimi dasananhi mahuṃ jībha bicārī॥ tāta kabahuṃ mohi jāni anāthā। karihahiṃ kṛpā bhānukula nāthā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
[Vibhishana said:] O Son of the Wind, listen to my condition. I live here just like a helpless tongue between the teeth. O dear one, if You know me to be orphaned and helpless, will the Lord of the Solar dynasty, Shri Ramachandra, ever show me grace?
तामस तनु कछु साधन नाहीं। प्रीति न पद सरोज मन माहीं॥ अब मोहि भा भरोस हनुमंता। बिनु हरिकृपा मिलहिं नहिं संता॥ २ ॥

tāmasa tanu kachu sādhana nāhīṃ। prīti na pada saroja mana māhīṃ॥ aba mohi bhā bharosa hanumaṃtā। binu harikṛpā milahiṃ nahiṃ saṃtā॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Because my body is tamasic, I have no means of spiritual practice, nor is there any devotion in my heart for Shri Ramachandra's lotus feet. But now, O Hanuman, I have become convinced that Shri Rama's grace is upon me, for without Hari's grace, saints are not met.
जौं रघुबीर अनुग्रह कीन्हा। तौ तुम्ह मोहि दरसु हठि दीन्हा॥ सुनहु बिभीषन प्रभु कै रीती। करहिं सदा सेवक पर प्रीती॥ ३ ॥

jauṃ raghubīra anugraha kīnhā। tau tumha mohi darasu haṭhi dīnhā॥ sunahu bibhīṣana prabhu kai rītī। karahiṃ sadā sevaka para prītī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
If Shri Raghubir has shown grace, then it is only because You, out of Your own will, have given me this sight. [Hanuman said:] Listen, Vibhishana, this is the Lord's way: He always shows love to His servants.
कहहु कवन मैं परम कुलीना। कपि चंचल सबहीं बिधि हीना॥ प्रात लेइ जो नाम हमारा। तेहि दिन ताहि न मिलै अहारा॥ ४ ॥

kahahu kavan maiṃ parama kulīnā। kapi cañcala sabahīṃ bidhi hīnā॥ prāta lei jo nāma hamārā। tehi dina tāhi na milai ahārā॥ 4 ॥
Meaning:
Tell me, what great noble birth do I have? I am a restless monkey and lacking in every respect. Whoever even takes our name in the morning will not get food that day.
अस मैं अधम सखा सुनु मोहू पर रघुबीर। कीन्ही कृपा सुमिरि गुन भरे बिलोचन नीर॥ ७ ॥

asa maiṃ adhama sakhā sunu mohū para raghubīra। kīnhī kṛpā sumiri guna bhare bilocana nīra॥ 7 ॥
Meaning:
O friend, listen: I am such a wretch; yet Shri Ramachandra has also shown me grace. Remembering the Lord's virtues, Hanuman's eyes filled with tears.
जानतहूँ अस स्वामि बिसारी। फिरहिं ते काहे न होहिं दुखारी॥ एहि बिधि कहत राम गुन ग्रामा। पावा अनिर्बाच्य बिश्रामा॥ १ ॥

jānatahūṃ asa svāmi bisārī। firahiṃ te kāhe na hohiṃ dukhārī॥ ehi bidhi kahata rāma guna grāmā। pāvā anirbācya biśrāmā॥ 1 ॥
Meaning:
Those who knowingly forget such a Lord and wander after worldly things, why should they not suffer? Speaking thus of Rama's virtues, he attained an indescribable peace.
पुनि सब कथा बिभीषन कही। जेहि बिधि जनकसुता तहँ रही॥ तब हनुमंत कहा सुनु भ्राता। देखी चहउँ जानकी माता॥ २ ॥

puni saba kathā bibhīṣana kahī। jehi bidhi janakasutā tahaṃ rahī॥ taba hanumaṃta kahā sunu bhrātā। dekhī cahauṃ jānakī mātā॥ 2 ॥
Meaning:
Then Vibhishana narrated all that had happened and how Sita had been living there. Then Hanuman said, 'Listen, brother, I wish to see Mother Janaki.'
जुगुति बिभीषन सकल सुनाई। चलेउ पवनसुत बिदा कराई॥ करि सोइ रूप गयउ पुनि तहवाँ। बन असोक सीता रह जहवाँ॥ ३ ॥

juguti bibhīṣana sakala sunāī। caleu pavanasuta bidā karāī॥ kari soi rūpa gayau puni tahvāṃ। bana asoka sītā raha jahvāṃ॥ 3 ॥
Meaning:
Vibhishana explained all the ways and means [for seeing the Mother]. Then Hanuman took leave and departed. Then, assuming that same form again, he went there where Sita was dwelling in the Ashoka grove.
