एक कहहिं ऐसिउ सौंघाई। सठहु तुम्हार दरिद्र न जाई॥ कहँरत भट घायल तट गिरे। जहँ तहँ मनहुँ अर्धजल परे॥ २ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

eka kahahim̐ aisiu saṃghāī। saṭhahu tumhāra daridra na jāī॥ kahaṃrata bhaṭa ghāyala taṭa gire। jahaṃ tahaṃ manahuṃ ardhajala pare॥ 2 ॥

Meaning

One says, 'O fools, there is such abundance here, and still your poverty does not leave you?' Wounded warriors lie moaning on the bank, as if half-submerged bodies were lying everywhere.
