उमा राम सम हित जग माहीं। गुरु पितु मातु बंधु प्रभु नाहीं॥ सुर नर मुनि सब कै यह रीती। स्वारथ लागि करहिं सब प्रीती॥ १ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

umā rāma sama hita jaga māhīṃ। guru pitu mātu baṃdhu prabhu nāhīṃ॥ sura nara muni saba kai yaha rīti। svāratha lāgi karahiṃ saba prīti॥ 1 ॥

Meaning

O Uma, in this world none is as beneficent as Rama—neither guru, father, mother, brother, nor lord. This is the way of gods, men, and sages: they all form bonds only for selfish gain.
