छुद्र नदीं भरि चलीं तोराई। जस थोरेहुँ धन खल इतराई॥ भूमि परत भा ढाबर पानी। जनु जीवहि माया लपटानी॥ ३ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

chudra nadīṃ bhari calīṃ torāī। jasa thorehuṃ dhana khala itarāī॥ bhūmi parata bhā ḍhābara pānī। janu jīvahi māyā lapaṭānī॥ 3 ॥

Meaning

The little rivers, swollen full, rush along breaking their banks, just as the wicked grow arrogant even with little wealth. As soon as the water falls on the ground, it becomes muddy, as though illusion has clung to the pure soul.
