उतर देत छोड़उँ बिनु मारें। केवल कौसिक सील तुम्हारें॥ न त एहि काटि कुठार कठोरें। गुरहि उरिन होतेउँ श्रम थोरें॥ ४ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

uttara deta chhoḍauṃ binu māreṃ। kevala kausika sīla tumhāreṃ॥ na ta ehi kāṭi kuṭhāra kaṭhoreṃ। gurahi urina hoteuṃ śrama thoreṃ॥ 4 ॥

Meaning

I am giving my answer. Even so, I am sparing him without killing him, O Vishvamitra, only out of regard for your noble nature. Otherwise, with this hard axe I would have cut him down and quickly repaid my debt to my guru with little effort.
