तब जनक पाइ बसिष्ठ आयसु ब्याह साज सँवारि कै। मांडवी श्रुतकीरति उरमिला कुअँरि लईं हँकारि कै॥ कुसकेतु कन्या प्रथम जो गुन सील सुख सोभामई। सब रीति प्रीति समेत करि सो ब्याहि नृप भरतहि दई॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
taba janaka pāi basiṣṭha āyasu byāha sāja sam̐vāri kai। māṃḍavī śrutakīrati uramilā kuām̐ri laīṃ ham̐kāri kai॥ kuseketu kanyā prathama jo guna sīla sukha sobhāmayī। saba rīti prīti sameta kari so byāhi nṛpa bharatahi daī॥ 2 ॥
Meaning
Then, receiving Vasistha’s command, Janak arranged the wedding paraphernalia and called Mandavi, Shrutakirti, and Urmila. He gave the eldest daughter of Kushadhwaja, who was the very embodiment of virtue, character, happiness, and beauty, to Bharata in marriage, with love and all due rites.
