सुनि कटु बचन कुठार सुधारा। हाय हाय सब सभा पुकारा॥ भृगुबर परसु देखावहु मोही। बिप्र बिचारि बचउँ नृपद्रोही॥ ३ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

suni kaṭu bacana kuṭhāra sudhārā। hāya hāya saba sabhā pukārā॥ bhṛgubara parasu dekhāvahu mohī। bipra bicāri bacauṃ nṛpadrohī॥ 3 ॥

Meaning

Hearing Lakshmana's harsh words, Parashurama raised his axe. The whole assembly cried out, 'Alas! Alas!' [Lakshmana said:] O best of the Bhargavas, are you showing me your axe? Yet O enemy of kings, I am sparing you out of regard for a Brahmin.
