कहहिं परसपर पुर नर नारी। भलि बनाइ बिधि बात बिगारी॥ तन कृस मन दुखु बदन मलीने। बिकल मनहुँ माखी मधु छीने॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
kahahiṃ paraspara pura nara nārī। bhali banāi bidhi bāta bigārī॥ tana kṛsa mana dukhu badana malīne। bikala manahuṃ mākhī madhu chīne॥ 2 ॥
Meaning
The men and women of the city speak among themselves: 'How well the Creator has fashioned things, and yet how badly He has spoiled them!' Their bodies are lean, their minds sorrowful, and their faces pale. They are restless like bees whose honey has been taken away.
