जरहिं बिषम जर लेहिं उसासा। कवनि राम बिनु जीवन आसा॥ बिपुल बियोग प्रजा अकुलानी। जनु जलचर गन सूखत पानी॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
jarahiṃ biṣama jara lehīṃ usāsā। kavani rāma binu jīvana āsā॥ bipula biyoga prajā akulānī। janu jalacara gana sūkhata pānī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning
The people are burning with a terrible fever of grief. Drawing long sighs, they say: what hope is there of living without Rama? The prospect of great separation has so unsettled the people that they are like water-creatures troubled as the water dries up.
