धरम सनेह उभयँ मति घेरी। भइ गति साँप छुछुंदरि केरी॥ राखउँ सुतहि करउँ अनुरोधू। धरमु जाइ अरु बंधु बिरोधू॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
dharama saneha ubhayaṃ mati gherī। bhai gati sāṃpa chuchuṃdari kerī॥ rākhaum suta hi karauṃ anurodhū। dharamu jāi aru bandhu virodhū॥ 2 ॥
Meaning
Dharma and affection both surrounded Kausalya's mind. Her condition became like that of a snake and the ichneumon. She thought that if she kept her son by insistence, dharma would be lost and there would be conflict among brothers;
