भूषन बसन भोग सुख भूरी। मन तन बचन तजे तिन तूरी॥ अवध राजु सुर राजु सिहाई। दसरथ धनु सुनि धनदु लजाई॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
bhūṣana basana bhoga sukha bhūrī। mana tana bacana taje tina tūrī॥ avadha rāju sura rāju sihāī। dasaratha dhanu suni dhanadu lajāī॥ 3 ॥
Meaning
He renounced ornaments, clothes, luxuries, and all pleasures, with mind, body, and speech, as if they were mere straw. The kingdom of Ayodhya was envied even by Indra, lord of the gods, and when Kubera heard of Dasharatha’s wealth, he too felt ashamed.
