Chaupai 2, Under Doha 117 · Uttar Kand

Chaupai Text

सो मायाबस भयउ गोसाईं। बँध्यो कीर मरकट की नाईं॥ जड़ चेतनहि ग्रंथि परि गई। जदपि मृषा छूटत कठिनई॥ २ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

so māyābasa bhayau gosāīṃ। baṃdhyo kīra marakaṭa kī nāīṃ॥ jaḍa cetanahi granthi pari gaī। jadapi mṛṣā chūṭata kaṭhinai॥ 2 ॥

Meaning

O Gosain, being under Maya, it became bound like a parrot or a monkey that ties itself up. Thus a knot formed between the inert and the conscious. Though that knot is unreal, it is still hard to untie.
