चिक्करहिं दिग्गज डोल महि गिरि लोल सागर खरभरे। मन हरष सभ गंधर्ब सुर मुनि नाग किंनर दुख टरे॥ कटकटहिं मर्कट बिकट भट बहु कोटि कोटिन्ह धावहीं। जय राम प्रबल प्रताप कोसलनाथ गुन गन गावहीं॥ १ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

cikkarahiṃ diggaja ḍola mahi giri lola sāgara kharabhare। mana harasha sabha gaṃdharba sura muni nāga kinnara dukha ṭare॥ kaṭakaṭahiṃ markaṭa bikaṭa bhaṭa bahu koṭi koṭinha dhāvahīṃ। jaya rāma prabala pratāpa kosalanātha guna gana gāvahīṃ॥ 1 ॥

Meaning

The elephants of the directions trumpeted, the earth shook, the mountains swayed, and the sea churned. Gandharvas, gods, sages, serpents, and kinnaras all rejoiced in heart, thinking their sorrows had ended. Countless fierce monkey-warriors clenched their teeth, and millions rushed ahead, singing the praises of Rama: Victory to Rama, to the mighty Lord of Kosala.
