तेहि न जान नृप नृपहि सो जाना। भूप सुहृद सो कपट सयाना॥ बैरी पुनि छत्री पुनि राजा। छल बल कीन्ह चहइ निज काजा॥ ३ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

tehi na jāna nṛpa nṛpahi so jānā। bhūpa suhṛda so kapaṭa sayānā॥ bairī puni chatrī puni rājā। chala bala kīnha cahai nija kājā॥ 3 ॥

Meaning

The king did not recognize him, but he had recognized the king. The king was pure-hearted, whereas he was skilled in deceit. An enemy, and also a Kshatriya by caste, and a king—he wanted to accomplish his purpose by deceit and force.
