सूर समर करनी करहिं कहि न जनावहिं आपु। बिद्यमान रन पाइ रिपु कायर कथहिं प्रतापु॥ २७४ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

sūra samara karanī karahiṃ kahi na janāvahiṃ āpu। bidyamāna rana pāi ripu kāyara kathahiṃ pratāpu॥ 274 ॥

Meaning

True heroes perform brave deeds in battle; they do not merely proclaim themselves. When the enemy stands before them in war, only cowards boast of their own glory.
