रानि कुचालि सुनत नरपालहि। सूझ न कछु जस मनि बिनु ब्यालहि॥ भरत राज रघुबर बनबासू। भा मिथिलेसहि हृदयँ हराँसू॥ २ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
rāni kucāli sunata narapālahi। sūjha na kacha jasu mani binu byālihi॥ bharata rāja raghubara banabāsū। bhā mithilesahi hṛdayaṃ harāṃsū॥ 2 ॥
Meaning
Hearing the queen’s bad counsel, King Janaka could make out nothing, as a serpent cannot see without its jewel. Then, hearing of Bharata’s rule and Rama’s exile, great sorrow arose in the heart of the Lord of Mithila.
