Chaupai 3, Under Doha 240 · Ayodhya Kand
Chaupai Text
मिलि न जाइ नहिं गुदरत बनई। सुकबि लखन मन की गति भनई॥ रहे राखि सेवा पर भारू। चढ़ी चंग जनु खैंच खेलारू॥ ३ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
mili na jāi nahiṃ gudarata banī। sukabi lakhana mana kī gati bhanī॥ rahe rākhi sevā para bhārū। caṛhī caṃga janu kheṃca khelārū॥ 3 ॥
Meaning
It was neither possible to stay apart from service even for a moment, nor possible to abandon it out of love. Only a great poet can describe Lakshmana’s state of mind. He remained weighed down by service, as though a player were pulling down a kite that had already risen high.
