ब्याकुल राउ सिथिल सब गाता। करिनि कलपतरु मनहुँ निपाता॥ कंठु सूख मुख आव न बानी। जनु पाठीनु दीन बिनु पानी॥ १ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

byākula rāu sithila saba gātā। karini kalapataru manahuṃ nipātā॥ kaṇṭhu sūkha mukha āva na bānī। janu pāṭhīnu dīna binu pānī॥ 1 ॥

Meaning

The king became distraught; all his limbs grew limp, as though an elephant had uprooted the kalpataru. His throat dried up and no words came from his mouth, like a fish suffering without water.
