कबि बृंद उदार दुनी न सुनी। गुन दूषक ब्रात न कोपि गुनी॥ कलि बारहिं बार दुकाल परै। बिनु अन्न दुखी सब लोग मरै॥ ५ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

kabi bṛnda udāra dunī na sunī। guna dūṣaka brāta na kopi gunī॥ kali bārahiṃ bāra dukāla parai। binu anna dukhī saba loga marai॥ 5 ॥

Meaning

There are hosts of poets, but no generous patron is heard of in the world. There are many who point out faults, but not a single truly virtuous person. In the Kali age, famine strikes again and again; without grain, all people suffer and die.
