महिष खाइ करि मदिरा पाना। गर्जा बज्राघात समाना॥ कुंभकरन दुर्मद रन रंगा। चला दुर्ग तजि सेन न संगा॥ १ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

mahiṣa khāi kari madirā pānā। garjā bajrāghāta samānā॥ kuṃbhakarana durmada rana raṃgā। calā durga taji sena na saṃgā॥ 1 ॥

Meaning

After eating buffaloes and drinking liquor, he roared like a thunderbolt. Intoxicated and filled with battle-fury, Kumbhakarna left the fortress and set out, without taking the army with him.
