जनि लेहु मातु कलंकु करुना परिहरहु अवसर नहीं। दुखु सुखु जो लिखा लिलार हमरें जाब जहँ पाउब तहीं॥ सुनि उमा बचन बिनीत कोमल सकल अबला सोचहीं। बहु भाँति बिधिहि लगाइ दूषन नयन बारि बिमोचहीं॥
Transliteration (IAST)
jani lehu mātu kalaṅku karuṇā pariharahu avasara nahīṃ। dukhu sukhu jo likhā lilāra hamareṃ jāba jahaṃ pāuba tahīṃ॥ suni umā bacana vinīta komala sakala abalā socahīṃ। bahu bhāṃti bidhihi lagāi dūṣana nayana bāri bimocahīṃ॥
Meaning
Mother, do not take on a stain; do not cast aside compassion—this is not the time for grief. Whatever sorrow or happiness is written on my forehead, I shall receive wherever I go. Hearing Uma's humble and gentle words, all the women became thoughtful and, in many ways, blamed destiny while letting tears flow from their eyes.
