एक बार त्रेता जुग माहीं। संभु गए कुंभज रिषि पाहीं॥ संग सती जगजननि भवानी। पूजे रिषि अखिलेस्वर जानी॥ १ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
eka bāra tretā juga māhīṃ। saṃbhu gae kumbhaja rishi pāhīṃ॥ sanga satī jagajanani bhavānī। pūje rishi akhilesvara jānī॥ 1 ॥
Meaning
Once in the Treta Yuga, Shiva went to the sage Kumbhaja. With him was Sati, Bhavani, the Mother of the universe. Seeing them as the Lord of all, the sage worshipped them.
