बिप्र श्राप तें दूनउ भाई। तामस असुर देह तिन्ह पाई॥ कनककसिपु अरु हाटकलोचन। जगत बिदित सुरपति मद मोचन॥ ३ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

bipra śrāpa teṃ dūnau bhāī। tāmasa asura deha tinh pāī॥ kanakakasipu aru hāṭakalocana। jagata bidita surapati mada mocana॥ 3 ॥

Meaning

By the curse of a Brahmin sage, the two brothers received demonic, tamasic bodies. One was Hiranyakashipu and the other Hiranyaksha. They became famous throughout the world as those who humbled the pride of Indra, the king of the gods.
