पालव बैठि पेड़ एहिं काटा। सुख महुँ सोक ठाटु धरि ठाटा॥ सदा रामु एहि प्रान समाना। कारन कवन कुटिलपनु ठाना॥ ३ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

pālava baiṭhi peṛa ehiṃ kāṭā। sukha mahuṃ soka ṭhāṭu dhari ṭhāṭā॥ sadā rāmu ehi prāna samānā। kārana kavana kuṭilapanu ṭhānā॥ 3 ॥

Meaning

Seated on a leaf, she cut down the tree. She set up a grand display of sorrow in the midst of happiness. Rama was always dear to her as life itself, yet who knows why she adopted this crookedness.
