नारि सनेह बिकल बस होहीं। चकईं साँझ समय जनु सोहीं॥ मृदु पद कमल कठिन मगु जानी। गहबरि हृदयँ कहहिं बर बानी॥ १ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

nāri saneha bikala basa hohīṃ। cakaīṃ sāṃjha samaya janu sohīṃ॥ mṛdu pada kamala kaṭhina magu jānī। gahabari hṛdayaṃ kahahiṃ bara bānī॥ 1 ॥

Meaning

Women are overwhelmed by love. Like chakais at dusk, they seem to be suffering separation. Knowing the soft lotus-feet to be tender and the road to be hard, they speak good words in distressed hearts.
