मागउँ भीख त्यागि निज धरमू। आरत काह न करइ कुकरमू॥ अस जियँ जानि सुजान सुदानी। सफल करहिं जग जाचक बानी॥ ४ ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
māgauṃ bhīkha tyāgi nija dharamū। ārata kāha na kara'i kukaramū॥ asa jiyaṃ jāni sujāna sudānī। safala karahiṃ jaga jācaka bānī॥ 4 ॥
Meaning
I abandon my own duty and ask you for alms. What evil deed will a distressed person not do? Knowing this in the heart, the wise and generous make the beggar's speech fruitful in the world—that is, they grant what is asked.
