करि पितु क्रिया बेद जसि बरनी। भे पुनीत पातक तम तरनी॥ जासु नाम पावक अघ तूला। सुमिरत सकल सुमंगल मूला॥ १ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

kari pitu kriyā beda jasi baranī। bhe punīta pātaka tama taranī॥ jāsu nāma pāvaka agha tūlā। sumirata sakala sumaṅgala mūlā॥ 1 ॥

Meaning

Having performed his father's rites as prescribed in the Vedas, Sri Rama became purified, like the sun that dispels the darkness of sin. His name is fire to the cotton of sin; merely remembering Him is the root of every auspicious blessing.
